しかし、俯瞰( ふかん・上から目線 )で見ると、
それらは植物育成の機能も兼ねているのだ。
In my imagining, it's a huge bed of flowers/planter rather than a labyinth/maze. 
自分のイメージでは、

ラビリンス ( 迷宮庭園 ) というよりも、
むしろ巨大な花壇／植木鉢だ。
