その条件は、返済出来ない場合、胸の肉を一ポンド切り取るという条件であった。
When he couldn't be paid back, that the meat of the breast was cut off one pound.
そして後に、"もし、キリスト教徒の血を一滴でも流すならば・・"
then, in the rest, "If even Christian's one drop of blood is shed."
と、ハッピーエンドとなる戯曲。

Arrogance is added, and humanity sometimes becomes greedy.
現代でも通じる普遍性である。

怒りや残忍さを増し、遂には殺害に至っている。
