ヤンゴン・レストラン事情。今日はSky。最近できたSule Squareの裏にあるローカルレストランです。昼飯によく行くのですが、ここのSky Noodle、あとChili Chcken Riceがまぢでうまい。お値段も2500Ks（250円）。いやぁ、ローカルレストランはやめられませぬ。
さて、今日はこの曲。ある意味MTVを代表する曲かも。
この曲はBillboard誌で1984年4月から5月にかけて、3週間連続で最高7位を記録しました。彼らの5th album「Heartbeat City」からの1st singleっすね。このAlbumからは多くのヒット曲が生まれました。
ニューウェーブといえばUKだった時代、USはボストン出身のニューウェーブバンドです。USのニューウェーブというとB-52’sとかDevoなんかを思い出すけど、Carsはもっと聴きやすくてポップなロックをやってました
「ガガガガガガ・・・」っていうギターリフと印象的なキーボードで始まる曲っす。Vo.のRickのひっくり返る声も特徴的かなぁ。
でもこの曲はPV。CGがふんだんに使われていて、Rickがハエになったり虫歯菌になったり、はたまたキングコングになったりと、当時かなり話題になったPVでしたね。第一回MTV Awardの栄えあるVideo Of The Yearを受賞したPVです
。でも高一男子、よく覚えてるのはRickのでかいサングラスといたずらに長い顔だったりします・・・
。彼、ちょっと草刈正雄ににてる感じがするな・・・。
アメリカ産ニューウェーブ、まぁ、聴いてみてくださいな。

Yangon Restaurant now. Let me local restaurant called “SKY”. It is located at backstreet of Sule Plaza. I use this restaurant 2 or 3 time in a week. Sky Noodle and Chili Chicken Rice are special. Very good. Also it costs 2,500Ks ($2.50!!).
Well, today’s song is this. One of the best video of MTV era.
“ The Cars / You Might Think “
This song got 3 weeks No.7 on Billboard Magazine from April to May of 1984. 1st single from their 5th album “Heartbeat City”. A lot of hit single was cut from this album.
At that time, New Wave meant UK band, however The Cars came from Boston. Other New Wave Band of US were Devo or B-52’s. However The Cars were more pop and very familiar with Hit Chart, I think.
This song started with impressive Guitar riff and Keyboard melody. Rick’s voice was also interesting.
But most important thing for this song was Video. Computer Graphics was used and Rick acted as Fly, bad teeth, and King Kong. Finally, this video was awarded as 1st MTV Video Of The Year.
New Wave sound born in US, try this song.
