ダウンタウンから2時間ほど電車で揺られるとバゴーという町に着きます。ここには有名なシュエターリャウン寝仏があります。そう、映画「ビルマの竪琴」に出てくる仏様です。「おーい、水島ーっ！ 一緒に日本に帰ろう！」の仏様です。全長55m。
デカっ。
さて、今日の曲はこれ。King Of Pop。

この曲はBillboard誌で1983年3月から4月にかけて7週連続で1位を記録しました。ご存知1982年発表の「Thriller」に収録されていた1曲で、ちょっと落ち着いたトーンで曲が進みつつ、Beatの効いたDanceableな曲です。 このAlbumの中でも特に好きな曲かな。
歌詞も意味深で、当時噂のあったBrooke Shieldsとのことを歌ったという噂があったなぁ・・・。中三の私には意味わからずだったけど・・・（笑）
この後もヒット曲連発し、PVも凝り凝りになっていきます。MTV時代の最先端をいってましたよね。この年及び前後のMichaelフィーバーは本当に凄かった！ もう本当に尋常じゃないフィーバーでした。それをリアルに体験できたのはある意味ラッキーだったかも。
ただこの後、このアルバム、このフィーバー、この時代がMichaelを翻弄していくのは皮肉ですね・・・。

This song got 7 weeks No.1 on Billboard Magazine during March to April of 1983. As you know, an album “Thriller” (1982) includes this song. Chill out but good vibe and danceable song. My favorite song in this album.
And its lyric was very meaningful. I heard a rumor that this song told about Brooke Shields who was very beautiful and famous actress. I’m not sure about the rumor because I was just 14 years old…
He released so many hit songs, and he made very rich videos. He was cutting edge of the entertainment scene. In that time, Michael fever was incredible. I couldn’t believe that…
I was lucky because I could spend my time with him.
But, this monster album, this fever and this era lead him around by the nose….
