ミャンマー人の名前には苗字がありません。例えばアウン・サウン・スー・チー。これ、全部First Nameです。なのでミャンマーの方がパスポートを取得する際には、苗字ではなく親の名前を書く（らしい）です。
さて、今日はこの曲。もしかすると私の初ドレッド体験かも。
「Eddy Grant / Electric Avenue」
この曲はBillboard誌で1983年7月に5週連続2位を記録しました。
曲冒頭の「オーイッ！」という掛け声、サビの部分の「イレッ チュリック アベニュ」というコーラス、中3のウブな私にはパンチ力あり過ぎの彼の風貌、チープ感満載のPV、この曲には強烈なインパクトが残ってます。南米のガイアナ出身で英語も独特の訛りがあって、それまた印象深くしている要因かな。
彼の曲ってこの曲しか印象にないんですが、この曲とPVの印象が強烈すぎて、忘れられない曲の1つになってます。
彼最大のヒット曲ですが、残念ながら1位にはなれませんでした。それを阻んでいたのが昨日ご紹介したPoliceの「見つめていたい」です。
独特な訛りのある英語ですが、まぁ、聴いてみてくださいな。

This song got 5 weeks No.2 in Billboard Magazine at July 1983. “Boy!” at the beginning, the chorus, awesome his looks and his video, brought huge impact to me. He came from British Guiana, so he has an accent of English. It may also be the reason for the impact.
This is biggest hit song for him, however he could not get No.1 on the chart. The song which blocked his No.1 was “Every Breath You Take” by The Police.
His accent sounds good, try this song.
