First bouquet

The first Flower Art lesson was already very F U N !

We got a bundle of flowers &

2 real mini apples...

In the bundle we got.

Roses,

Carnation,

Gerbera
And 2 greens.

Gerbera, one of my favourites.

Finished ! Isn't it so pretty !!

I don't mean the way I arranged is pretty but

Flowers are so beautiful that they will look nice

in any way.

But what I do not like was that the leaves are being

stapled to create the waves and wires are inserted

into the flower so that they can stand strong.

Then in the evening there was a Farewell party

for Kiyoe whom I knew through Fred's Teacher, Professor Wada.

So I thought this bouquet will be a good gift and

she seems appreciated too.

Other than the girly lesson,

I also has the first fitness lesson this week.

The teacher introduced the machines to us

and we worked out a bit.

That a bit was able to make my

whole body ache yesterday and today.

But I actually enjoyed the fitness lesson too !

New semester

Although it's just the second week of school,

I feel like I am back for a month already.

Not trying to say that school is boring,

but I just felt this way.

Our new Glass Blowing teacher is

younger than expected and

he's a serious teacher,

which I think it's very good.

He gave us a small test and then

decides to start from building our foundation.

All the way from the very basic and

I have to admit that I learned a lot from the first lesson.

It's a serious lesson from now on !!

I also took a very interesting elective : Flower art

and we will be handing in 4 assignments, one of which is

flower bouquet

The only flower I have ever received

is just one stalk of rose from Fred.

But it was enough for me to feel "that's enough".

Guys who give flowers to girls are not my type !!

But I am very excited to make one for myself.

Flowers will be provided and

the art work can be brought home.

I am also looking forward to seeing the

autumn leaves which should be at the

best time to view in late November.

I actually missed the maple-leaves-viewing

last year, so I had already planned an itinerary

to see the real autumn this year !

We will be going to KORANKEI

It's about 60 mins Train ride and

another 60 mins Bus ride there.

Within Aichi Prefecture and I should be

expecting something like this :

A new season has come

台风过了，轻轻的凉风不停吹。。。

我想这应该就是秋天的到来了吧。。

Gloomy but cosy Day

Today is the second day of school and

before we could do some maintenance in the workshop,

an announcement was made throughout the school.

Train services in some areas have already been stopped

because of the Typhoon #15 so,

school has ended for the day

and students were asked to go home early.

Shortly after I got home,

the train service at this area stopped too.

It will be so scary if the only train service that brings you

home is not-in-service because of bad weather.

( I mean, in Japan )

Right now, it's just rain, no strong wind.

I have not encountered a typhoon yet

and so I wonder how destructive it is...

Dinner, HOW ?

Glass course gathering

It's the second last week of school and

today everyone from the glass course

had a dinner together.

It has nothing to do with the first semester

coming to an end but

it was a farewell party for KOSEI-SAN.

His leg's condition has worsened and

Professor Michael has decided to let him

take a rest for the next semester.

Although I was under his guidance in glass blowing 

for only 3 short months,

I can say that never once have I admired a teacher so much~

Dinner finished in about 2.30 hours

but some event caused us to go home even later.

Kosei-san's assistant, Mun Mun san drove the car

to the front of the restaurant and parked it

along the roadside. It was a scrammed roadside

so it was kind of in the way but moving cars could still pass.

They were just about to board the car when a passer-by

who was looking for fault said things like

"your car is in the way, why did you park it here"

in an unfriendly way.

That's how the story started.

Kosei san quarreled with the old man,

Mun Mun san stood in between them to make peace

for about 30 mins. There were some pushings and

the old man bit Kosei san on the hand.

When Kosei san sat down to take a puff,

the postgraduates and Mun Mun san

went up to talk to the man.

After sometime he decided to leave.

As Mun Mun san was apologizing to us

that it was all his fault for parking his car in that position,

police came.

Some checking was done and that's how our gathering ended.

The only teacher who will quarrel with someone

in front of his students has to be Kosei san.

He felt that it was not very nice that the night had to end this way.

He's cool but what he did was bad.

"You're someone I look up to and yet....."

"The Kosei you see as a teacher, isn't the real Kosei"

Such a free and wild man.

The most compatible master and disciple

A Hot-tempered & A peace maker.

Anyways we were looking at the photos together yesterday

and I told them about this incident which I so wished that I had a camera with me.

Few weeks ago when they were making a glass art together,

Kosei san was working with super hot glass and he didn't have gloves on.

Mun mun was wearing gloves and he immediately

Kosei san: Gave me his gloves?

Me : No... But he protected your hand by covering it with his hand. I felt very touched at that moment.

Just the hands will make a superb photograph.

Today Mun mun san did the same thing again, but this time towards my classmate.

And he immediately said " you saw that? "

I said " Yes, it will be a great photo"

It's a norm to them that an assistant must aid the glass artist but in my eyes,

I see more.

One day, I must take a picture of that.

An experiment on last friday.

Raining molten glass on Wood block.

Removing the dripped glass on the side of the ladle.

2 pours of molten glass

Glass begining to drip out of the holes on the wok.

In the meantime, pouring away excess glass...

Final work - Sadly, it failed because the

holes on the wok were too small.

But it's still an art in a different way .

夏天的风

The problem that troubled me last week

has been solved !
4 fans are brought in and they have

definitely helped because I was feeling ok

this week after the glass blowing.

However the heat in the Hot workshop is still intense...

But then, I'm glad...

My friend told me that standing in front

of the GLORY HOLE

( Oven that is used to reheat glass as

it is being worked. Sits around 2200 degrees farenheight )

will make the hand tan...

And having been wearing short-sleeves thesedays,

I just realized that my hands have turned dark...

So, I have decided to get a darker skin tone,

something new for me !

I learned from a friend that there is

something called the residents' pool in Japan

and it's F.O.C !

Today me and Fred checked out the

residents' pool of our area which was opened 2 days ago...

Not newly opened but the pool is opened

only in summer for 2 months and I have to say

the water is a little bit dirty.

And no one was swimming at all...

All the kids were playing with water,

and they were here and there in the pool..

It was difficult to swim a straight line !!

Was hurried by Fred to leave the

place cos' he thought it sucks...

But hey !

I spent money on swimming cap

and a pair of swimming goggles so

I have to make better

use of the F.O.C pool...

There should be lesser kids on weekdays I hope !

I am a little darker today, v(^-^)v

It has been a bad week for me in the Hot workshop.

Summer came suddenly on last Tuesday

and the temperature in the workshop was just unbearable.

Body and mind didnt seem right

everytime after I glass blow or

stayed in the workshop for long....

Drank a lot of water but....

probably because I am anemic...

Gonna get worse from now and I am troubled !!

The things I ordered online have come...

The rawhide messenger bag I bought

from India reeks a bit

but I can tell it's 100% handmade...

The guy who made this bag was probably

paid just 2 USD... It is sad that their labour

are cheap when they possibly have the

same skill as the western craftmen.

Talking about leather goods, KOSEI-SAN

does leather works too...

That's another WOW...

He made his own leather suit case to keep

the tools. I really hope that he will be healthy enough

to stay in NUA.

He's healthy but the joint on one of his legs

is having problem and although

he has done an operation not too long ago

he might need another one...

This is the first time in my life that I am always

talking about a teacher.

He is just too COOL when he's working with glass.

So what did I do on 25th of June !!

I was in school doing work till 3.30pm and

than headed out to buy materials,

had dinner and then came home

with tarts...

I want to remind myself that I am 24...

That's why I bothered to look for

candles in the shape of numbers...

Dinner was at a OYSTER BAR...

4 species of oyster from around Japan.

Very yummy !!

Southern American food -

can't figure out the taste

but it's good !

The name of this cake shop doesnt sound

pastries-y at all....

24 SOUNDS THE BEST.

not 18 or 21.

I wanna be 24 forever.

I just love things that are handmade...

Although it's summer,

I have already purchased these

from a ESTY seller MicheleMade.

Have not gotten an infinitive scarf so I thought

I have to get it for the next winter.

They should be on their way now too...
