Can you imagine how fast you'll recite the alphabet if you had to start from Z and then go
backwards$%: Try it and see how well you do.

But that's exactly what folks do when they come online. They set up a wonderful site that will "sell stuff like crazy" then they start looking for ways to get traffic to it. That's starting at "Z."

The right way is to start how they (buyers) start. There are three buying stages: The research stage, the shopping stage and the purchase stage.

If someone comes online and is already at the purchase stage, then they certainly already know what
they want and where to buy it. If they are at the shopping stage, then they know what they want but
are still looking around for the best deal.

If they are at the research stage, they are trying to learn more about the stuff, know if it is good for
them, if they can afford it, the options available to them and a whole lot of other issues.

Unless you already have the brand recognition of Walmart, you'd be better off targeting those who
are at the shopping and research stages. And at this stages, they need information and lots of it.

Build a site that is primarily concerned about getting traffic first. When you get traffic, you can
monetize the way you deem most profitable. Start with great content on a site that gets the click.
This will send in traffic. Then presell them with content that endears you to them and then and only
then will you be able to sell to them easily.
