Self Motivation Tip No. 1 - The principle of Simultaneity of Cause and Effect

The principle of Simultaneity of Cause and Effect means that although there may be a lapse of time before effect is manifest, what matters most is the continued effort in laying positive causes.

Know that what you do in the present moment is potentially a turning point in life.

Know that every effort you are making will eventually contribute to your cause.

So cherish every minute, every second you are contributing to your goal

As Sir Winston Churchill famously said, "Never, Never, Never, Give Up."

Self Motivation Tip No. 2 - Your breath is your Strength

In this exercise, we learn to recharge ourselves with each breath we take. Many meditation exercises merely requires one to focus on the breathing in :%$amp; out. Here, we go one step further to direct this focus of breath to tackling any disruptions that may upset your self motivation and development goals.

Let's say you are on your way to getting a deal and today, you woke up in the morning, and checked your email, and receive an email from your client that the deal is off. What can you do to prevent an anxiety attack or panic$%:

Step 1

Stare at the email and freeze your gaze. This is putting into practice what Winston Churchill prescribes, "without flinching".

To quote Churchill, "One ought never to turn one's back on a threatened danger and try to run away from it. If you do that, you will double the danger. But if you meet it promptly and without flinching, you will reduce the danger by half."

This is also a tactic sanctioned by Helen Keller, thus her famous quote, "Never bend your head. Hold it high. Look the world in the eye.--Helen Keller

Step 2

After you have "looked the challenge in the eye" take DEEP breaths. Feel each inhalation of fresh oxygen travel through your nose into your lungs, and spreading to your veins and reaching every part of your arms, body, and your BRAIN. Allowing you to THINK with clarity.

Step 3

Proceed from deep inhalation to DEEP exhalation to drive out any sensation of shock, nervousness, or potential anxiety. Feel yourself drawing your breath out from your belly, where the "butterflies" may be... CALM DOWN.

Step 4

During each complete DEEP inhalation and exhalation, DO NOT BLINK or Move your eyeballs.

Step 5

You have completed a single deep breath, now BLINK. SLOWLY.. as if you are almost closing your eyelids purposely. This is the process of slowing down your natural reflexes (breathing and blinking) to turn on your inner strength and put yourself in SELF-CONTROL mode.

You are now more able to cope with the bad news, whatever it is.

It is worth the 5 - 10minutes to calm down, be in self control mode (although at the time of impending panic, this may feel like 5 - 10 hours) but try it. Now the right solution to your problem will come naturally and you will not feel defeated. Instead, you are happy a new challenge has come your way to make your life more interesting!

After all, Isaac Newton discovered gravity while relaxing under the apple tree. To think well and make great discoveries and solutions to problems, one must arrive first at deep relaxation and take things in your stride.

This is surely yet another step towards achieving your self motivation and development goals.
