Since the foundation of Uptown Style, I have been bearing in mind this motif inscribed below,
“Design is communication.
It's important that you feel comfortable however it looks or however you use it.”
So as to take this idea into account, I thought that it is also important to learn from traditional designs.
While working at the factory in China, I had to leave the country at once in every 90 days.
During the leave in three locations, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Macau, I explored designs made in Great Britain, Holland, and Portugal.
It is essential to be cautious when you produce new samples inspired by these kinds of designs, otherwise the new products might be overly decorated.
In regard to these experiences, we strive to make products that can make everyone happy.
Our main products, "Lily White Series" which is manufactured in a factory in Zhejiang, China.
The cooperation period including the predecessor import trading company has been over 20 years.
Originally, it was a factory that was good at wood carving.
It's also a place which is historically and regionally excellent in arts and crafts.
(The statue of Shaka Nyorai at Seiryoji Temple in Kyoto is a temple near this factory.
It was built about 1,000 years ago.
The dry lacquer statue of Ganjin Wajo, a national treasure, was also made by another monk from the same temple.
It is said that it was completed in Nara. )
"Rokuro legs", the legs of these desks and chairs.
If you manufacture or place an order in Japan, it will be very expensive.
This is an export product outside of Japan.
The gentle curved surface of this drawer part is a design that is not easy to manufacture.
We, Uptown Style are improving quality, searching for design while regularly staying in the factory.
I hope our products will become everyone's favourite.
