これまで拙稿で見てきた音盤中で最大のボリューム、CD4枚組、全104曲収録、解説ブックレットは48ページというウクレレ音楽としては圧倒的な物量で迫る、さながら戦前吹き込みウクレレSP音盤の大全集である。英国ロンドンのProper Recordsというレコード会社がリリースしていた廉価BOXセットのProper BoxというCD4枚組シリーズ中の１タイトル。
ディスク１はハワイアン・フラと題して戦前のハワイアン楽団のSP盤をコンパイル。冒頭のトラック1はなんと1916年のヴィンテージ音源である。
ディスク２は大半が米国の誇るウクレレ・アイクの戦前吹き込み集で、後半にジョニー・マーヴィンの６曲やその他を追加収録している。
ディスク３は英国のウクレレ・ヒーロー＝ジョージ・フォームビーでまるまる一枚すべて収録。ここまでは殆どが戦前のSP盤からの復刻音源である。
ディスク4はカントリーtoジャズ、と銘打っているものの、ロイ・スメック、ジミー・ロジャース、サッチモ、ビング・クロスビー、ライル・リッツと、アコースティック・スイング枠と括れなくもないが雑多なセレクションから成る。
どれもあまりに古い音源で自分で78回転のSP原盤を蒐集するのはほぼ不可能、という意味で貴重な歴史的資料には違いない。
