1154. The special alert for heatstroke starts.   熱中症特別アラート開始

The number of deaths due to heatstroke has exceeded one thousand in recent years.

The Ministry of the Environment has launched "The Special Alert for Heatstroke" to prepare for the heat wave of disaster class.

The ministry expects this summer to be an unprecedented and dangerously hot one.

When the heat index is expected to exceed 35, the alert will be sent out at 14:00 the day before.

The index number is 35, which means the temperature is over 40 degrees.

Each local government has to consider the elderly, babies, and infants who are susceptible to heatstroke, and call for events in the city to be canceled or postponed.

The evacuation facilities called cooling shelters will open at the same time as the alert.
