THE President North Korea’s Parliament, Mr Kim Yong Namwill next week visit Uganda daily Monitor has learnt.
Mr Nam, who is effectively number two in Korea will among other things, sign defence and security agreements.
“He is a visitor of the Government of Uganda and we will enter a number of trade agreements because North Korea wants to open its markets to Uganda,” said International Affairs minister Okello Oryem.
Uganda seeks to export silk, dried mushrooms and Simsim. In turn sources said, North Korea would supply Uganda with military hardware and train VIP protection units and the police. Daily Monitor learnt that North Korea is training the Uganda police in Taekwondo skills.
Kampala dismissed speculations that the visit would stifle relations with Washington, one of major donor countries. “Any body’s enemies are not necessarily our enemies,” Mr Oryem said.
