明日へ架ける橋

「明日へ架ける橋」は、2004年5月にリリースされた倉木麻衣ちゃんの18thシングルである。

実は、このタイトルを見た時に麻衣ちゃんが「Simon & Garfunkel（サイモンとガーファンクル）」の「Bridge over troubled water（明日に架ける橋）」をカバーしたのかなと思ったのだった(^^;;

「Bridge over troubled water（明日に架ける橋）」は「あすにかけるはし」で、麻衣ちゃんの「明日へ架ける橋」は「あしたへかけるはし」であり、まったく別の曲である(^^;;

「Bridge over troubled water」はアメリカでは1970年1月26日にシングルと同名のアルバムが同時にリリースされ、日本では同年3月にシングルが、4月にアルバムがリリースされた。

サイモンとガーファンクルは、アルバム「明日に架ける橋」を巡ってポール・サイモンとアート・ガーファンクルの音楽性の相違が決定的となり、アルバムをリリースした1970年に解散したが、その11年後の1981年に行われたニューヨークのセントラルパークでの公演を契機に一時的に再結成され、翌年1982年5月に初来日して共に今はなき大阪球場と後楽園球場で公演を行い、以後も何度か一時的に再結成されて、1993年12月には福岡と東京のドーム球場で、2009年7月には大阪、東京、名古屋、札幌の各ドーム球場と日本武道館で来日公演を行った。

私は、1982年5月に今は跡地がなんばパークスになった大阪球場でのライブを鑑賞した^_^

ポール・サイモンが、南海ホークスの本拠地だった大阪球場で阪神タイガースの帽子をかぶっていたことを鮮明に覚えているが、この頃麻衣ちゃんはまだ母親のお腹の中にいたのだ(^^;;

麻衣ちゃんの「明日へ架ける橋」は、その後2005年8月にリリースされた5thアルバム「FUSE OF LOVE」、2009年9月にリリースされたデビュー10周年記念ベストアルバム「ALL MY BEST」、2014年11月にリリースされたデビュー15周年記念ベストアルバム「Mai Kuraki BEST 151A -LOVE & HOPE-」に収録されている。

「Top of the World」は、1972年6月にリリースされた「Carpenters」の4thアルバム「A Song for You」に収録された曲で、当初はアルバム収録曲の内の1曲の扱いだったが、これをカントリーシンガー「Lynn Anderson（リン・アンダーソン）」がカバーしてシングル盤を発売したところ、アメリカのカントリーチャートで2位となったことから、リアレンジして1973年9月にシングルカットして発売した。

何と、リアレンジ版「Top of the World」は「Carpenters」として2曲目となる、ビルボードヒットチャート1位に輝いたのだった^_^

ちなみに、「Carpenters」の曲でビルボードヒットチャート1位に輝いた曲は意外にも3曲しかなく、他の2曲は1970年5月にリリースされた「Burt Bacharach（バート・バカラック）」作の「（They Long to Be）Close to You」、1961年8月に「The Marvelletes（マーヴェレッツ）」がリリースした「Please Mr. Postman」のカバー版（Carpenters版は1974年11月、日本では12月にシングルがリリースされた）である。

「Sing」、「Yesterday Once More」、「Only Yesterday」等の名曲は、ビルボードヒットチャート1位にはなっていないのだ(^^;;

なお、「Carpenters」は1963年11月にリリースされた「The Beatles（ビートルズ）」の英国公認2ndアルバム「With the Beatles」に収録された「Please Mr. Postman」をカバーしたとしているが、「The Beatles」は「The Marvelletes」の「Please Mr. Postman」をカバーしたのである。

麻衣ちゃんから、話がとんでもなく脱線してしまった(^^;;

麻衣ちゃんは、2004年の紅白歌合戦でこの「明日へ架ける橋」を歌った^_^

紅白歌合戦は基本的に年号が平成に変わってから28年間見てないのだが、麻衣ちゃんが3年連続で出場した2003年（2ndシングルの「Stay by my side」）、2004年（明日へ架ける橋）、2005年（デビュー曲の「Love, Day After Tommorow」）は、麻衣ちゃんが歌ったシーンだけをかいつまんで見た^_^

麻衣ちゃんは、コンサートツアーをするようになったりCMのイメージキャラクターになるようになってからもテレビの音楽番組には一切出演してなかったので、当時としては貴重な麻衣ちゃんのテレビ出演だったのだ。

またまた話が脱線するが、麻衣ちゃんが紅白歌合戦以外の音楽番組に出演したのは何と2009年2月のMステが最初であり、この時は先述の8thアルバム「touch Me！」のタイトルチューン「touch Me！」を歌った^_^

この年は、麻衣ちゃんデビュー10周年の年だったので、音楽番組からバラエティ番組まで、いろんな番組で麻衣ちゃんの姿を見ることが出来た^_^

いろいろ書き始めるとキリがなくなりそうなので、麻衣ちゃんの「明日へ架ける橋」、サイモンとガーファンクルの「明日に架ける橋」、カーペンターズ、リン・アンダーソンが歌って麻衣ちゃんがカバーした「Top of the World」の歌詞を書いて締めることにする(^^;;
