今年の夏は、小学5年生と3年生の子どもたちを連れて母子でアフリカ・ガボンへの旅行を計画中です。
０歳児はさすがに大変なので、苦渋の決断で夫に預けて母子で行くことに決めました。
行き方は、ざっくりと
・エチオピア経由
・ドーハ、モロッコ経由
・トルコ経由
・フランス経由
下へ行くほど航空券は高くなる…
悩んだ挙げ句、エチオピア航空のハブ、アディスアベバを経由するルートにしました。
飛行機で耳が痛くなることの多いわたし…
機体の気圧が高めというボーイング787・エアバス350であること、経由回数が少ないこと、移動時間が短いこと、もちろん料金も抑えられること。これらの理由で決定しました。
日によっては経由地が多く設定されていることもあるので、しらみつぶしに1日1日調べていって、条件の良い日を選んでいきました。
色々調べた中で、最も安くて便利だった予約サイトや、安く買うためのコツをシェアします！

結論から言うと、一番安かったのはTrip.com！同じ便でも、他の国内大手サイトよりも数万円お得な便が出ていました。
💡安くなる曜日＆時間帯の傾向を発見！
旅行サイトで何度も検索して見えてきたのが

深夜や早朝に検索すると、他の時間帯に比べて安い傾向がある
もし時間に余裕があるなら、検索をを平日＆深夜・早朝にするだけで、かなり節約できます！
火曜水曜が安いという記事を見ましたが、一概にそうとも言えず。
日曜の昼間にも安くなる時間帯がありました。
⚠️「エアフレックス」は要注意！無料キャンセル・変更の落とし穴
Trip.comでは「AirFlex（エアフレックス）」という、1回だけ無料で変更・キャンセルができるオプションが用意されています。
ただし要注意！
このオプション、追加料金が時間帯によって金額が大きく異なります。
「格安航空券だと思って選んだのに、AirFlexをつけると結局高くなる…」なんてこともあるので、よく確認しましょう。
時間帯によって、4,900円〜17,000円の幅がありました。

📸 パスポートの読み込み機能が超便利！
Trip.comでの予約時には、パスポートをカメラで読み込むだけで、名前や番号などが自動入力されました。地味ですが、これがとても便利！
また、支払いもスムーズで、操作も直感的だったので、スマホだけでもストレスなく完了しました。

This Summer, I’m Planning a Mother-Child Trip to Gabon, Africa with My 5th and 3rd Graders!
I’m planning a trip to Gabon, Africa this summer with my 5th-grade and 3rd-grade kids. Since traveling with a 0-year-old would be too challenging, I made the tough decision to leave my baby with my husband and go on the trip with just the older kids.
Travel Options
Here are the flight routes I considered:

The further down the list you go, the more expensive the tickets become…
After much deliberation, I decided on a route that goes through Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, which is the hub of Ethiopian Airlines.
Why I Chose This Route
I often get ear pain on airplanes, so I specifically chose this route for a few reasons:

The aircraft models, Boeing 787 and Airbus A350, have higher cabin pressure, which is easier on my ears.

Shorter travel time

The cost was more affordable
I also checked daily for options since sometimes the number of layovers changes depending on the day. I selected the best days based on the conditions.
Sharing Tips on Finding the Best Flights
Here are the websites I used to compare flight prices and some tips on how to get the best deals!

The conclusion? Trip.com offered the cheapest tickets! Even for the same flights, there were options that were tens of thousands of yen cheaper than other domestic major websites.
💡 I Discovered Trends for Lower Prices!
Through searching on travel websites multiple times, I found the following pattern:

Searching at midnight or early morning tends to result in cheaper flights compared to other times of the day.
If you have flexibility, try searching on weekdays during late-night or early-morning hours to save a lot!
I’ve read that flights tend to be cheaper on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, but that’s not always the case. For instance, there were also good deals on Sunday afternoons.
⚠️ Watch Out for "AirFlex" – The Free Cancellation/Change Pitfall
Trip.com offers an option called AirFlex, which allows you to make one free change or cancellation. However, here’s the catch!
This option can increase the price significantly depending on the timing.
For example, a low-cost ticket can end up being more expensive if you add AirFlex, so it's essential to double-check the costs. The additional fee ranged from 4,900 yen to 17,000 yen depending on the time of booking.

📸 Passport Scanning Feature is Super Convenient! When I booked through Trip.com, I was able to scan my passport with my camera, and it automatically filled in my name and number. It might seem minor, but it’s incredibly convenient!
