今日紹介する本は、
「マチルダは小さな大天才」です。
＜あらすじ＞
小さな村に住む幼いマチルダは文学と数学にとても優れている天才少女だ。しかし、彼女の両親はそんなことは信じず、マチルダの事を馬鹿にし、扱いが酷かった。彼女はその扱いに対し泣くのでは無く、リベンジを行なおうと辛い日々を我慢し続けていた。やっと６歳になった彼女は学校に通い始める。彼女の才能に驚いた担任の先生は校長先生に飛び級をできるか聞く。しかしその学校の校長先生は子供を嫌っていて、暴力を振るうような人だったため、拒否される。親からも拒否されてしまう。それでも先生はどうにか方法を見つけようとして、マチルダと仲を深めていく。マチルダは授業を受けている時に、教室内で不思議なことが起きたのを見てしまう。彼女自身が持っている特殊能力が原因だと気づく。その日から、マチルダは一つの目的に向かって計画を作り、実行していく。

＜感想＞
この本は伏線がほぼ全くないので、子どもへの読み聞かせにでもオススメ。大人も読んでみたら面白いと思う。この本はすごく現実的だけれど少しファンタジーが含まれている。本を読まなくても映画やミュージカルが英語でインターネットに載っていると思うので、見てみると良いかもしれません。

The main character in this book is Matilda. Even though she is very smart, her parents always think of her as a hindrance. So the parents did not treat her well. Matilda did not cower from this and hide under her bed, she confronted them and she sneakily revenged behind their back. When she went into school, she was so smart her teacher wanted to move her to a higher level. However the school principle who hated children and bulied them, did not allow it. Still, Matilda and her teacher kept trying and became friends. One time during class, Matilda realized she had magical powers. Since then, she trained her powers and planned a revenge on the school principle.

<Opinion>
I read this book in school with a teacher, I thought it was pretty good despite not being my type of genre. It was funny when Matilda started to take revenge to her parents and school principle.
Even if you do not read this book, I hope you watch the movie or the musical. I cerainly enjoyed the musical. There was so much power to the songs.
