Table of Contents

MX Simulator is a full blown computer simulation of what it is like to ride a motocross bike. The game is physics-based, not animation based. This means that all of the major components of the bike and the rider are simulated in real time according to the laws of physics. The creator of the game is Josh Vanderhoof (who is obviously a computational badass). The following information is an unofficial user manual that was created to help you get the most out of MX Simulator (MXS).

This section will show you what you need to do to get MXS on your computer.

Different Forms of MXS

There are two different versions of MXS, a full version and a free demo.

Demo

There is a demo which is free of cost for MXS. This allows people to try before they buy. It contains only two tracks and allows no customization of the models, tracks or skins in the game. To get the customization features and all the tracks, you have to buy the full version. Besides those restrictions, the demo is a full working version of MXS.

Full Game

The full version of this game is $42 (US) and allows the purchaser to do all of the cool things that you see people doing in the official MXS Forum. You can download new tracks, rider gear, and bikes, and use them in the game. The additional content is created by purchasers of the video game just like you, so definitely appreciate that fact.

Obtaining MXS

There are a couple different way to get MXS, this sections tells you about them.

Downloading

The most common way to get MXS is to download it from official MXS website. You can get the demo version at the links below.

  • Full Version: Click for Full (at the top of the page)
  • Demo Version: Click for Demo

Note: If you don't know whether or not you need the Windows or Linux version, there is a 99% chance you need the windows version. And if you have Linux you should be computer savvy enough to figure out how to install it.

Mail

If you aren't able to go through the checkout process to download it you can have it mailed instead. Go to the following link.

  • Full Version: Click for Full (at the bottom of the page)

Installing MXS

To install the demo version, just download and run the installer like you would for any other program.

Snapshots

Note: Your freshly installed MXS files are probably out of date. The way to fix this is to go to the official MXS General Forum and look for the thread near the top that says something like year-mm-day Snapshot. It will be a thread started by Josh Vanderhoof himself (jlv) that gives you a link to the latest snapshot. Download the file and put it in your Program Folder.

These snapshots are periodic updates to the game that aren't really full updates. They may tweak a few settings or fix some bugs, or they may add lots of features to the game. In other words, if you want the best version out there, you probably want latest snapshot.

In order to make it easy to start the new snapshot you should make a shortcut to your desktop. You do this by opening your Program Folder and then right clicking on your new snapshot file (ya know, something like mx-year-month-day.exe). Hover over the send to option, then left click on send to desktop (create shortcut). This will create a new icon on your desktop that you can use to launch MXS. Anytime you want to play, just click this new link.

There are two folders that are important in the management of your MX Stuff. They are your MXS Personal Folder and the MXS Program Folder. For the most part, the personal folder holds your configuration files, best times, best laps replays, add-on skins and models, and your newly downloaded tracks. Sometimes these things need to be put into your program folder and not the personal folder, for whatever reason. So, knowing what and where these are is critical to getting all the goodies working correctly.

Personal

The easiest way to get to your personal folders is to go to your windows start menu, then go to programs, MX Simulator and click on Personal Folder. It is as simple as that.
AS was said earlier, your personal folder is where most of your customized stuff will go, so you need to remember where it is.
For an even easier reference for later, go to start>programs>MX Simulator and then right-click on MXS Personal Folder. Then hover over 'send to' and then click 'send to desktop' (create a shortcut). This will create an easily accessible portal to your folder.

Program

For windows users, the normal location for the program folder is at C:/Program Files/MX Simulator . This folder holds all of the actual game files that run when you start up MXS. If you download a new snapshot this is where you should put it.

Misc.

Most of the settings for MXS can be found in the Menus within MXS. Some of them can't, however. We'll put all of the stuff that can't be found in the menus in this section.

Switches/Tags/Commands

A few of the settings that you might want to change are not listed in the Main Menu within the game. The way that you use them is to add a command to the end of your target in the properties for the link. What the F is that? Well, the link to MXS on your desktop has a few properties associated with it. One of them is the target. This target points to where the games exe file is actually located. What does this have to do with commands? Well, you have to attach these commands to the end of the target in the properties window. So, if you wan to use these commands you need to:

  • Right Click on the MXS icon that is on your desktop.
  • Left click on properties.
  • Click on the Shortcut tab that is at the top of the properties window.
  • This area should have a place that says Target.

This is where you add on the commands. The format of the commands is usually something like this:

Where you add the command to the end of the stuff you see in the target box. Make sure the command is outside of the quotes. The list of the commands is below:

(hides the pause text when paused)(turns off the map, pitboard and tachometer)(1 turns it on, 0 turns it off - shows the frames per second that your computer is able to draw)(1 turns it on, 0 off - shows the actual time of the outside world)(put in a number between 0.0 and 1.0 - it lets your bike actually dig into the track and leave 'ruts', you can try it but it doesn't work very well)(# up to 128 I think. Stock setting is Max)(opens up your MXS Personal Folder)(stops your fps from going above the number that you specify)(opens the editor)(speeds up the playback of game - used in conjunction with practice to train the AI on new tracks, don't use it if you don't know what you are doing)(used for training AI)

Tamil 5.1 audio songs download. You can use more than one command, just put a space between them. Walther serial number chart. As an example, this would turn on the FPS indicator, hide the pause text and hide the heads up display:

The Main Menu is what you see as soon as you fire up MXS.

New Race

This is where you go if you want to race against the computer controlled AI.

Start

Click this once you have figured out your settings and are ready to race against the AI.

Track

Pick your track here. All of the stock tracks, as well as downloaded tracks, will be listed.

Record Demo

Has two settings; Yes and No. When set to yes the computer will save the replay* of all of the races you are in - even multiplayer races. When set to off it does nothing. For big races with lots of people the file size of the replays* can get huge (bigger than 100mb).

*Note: The game does not call them replays, it calls them demos. That is why it says Record Demo. Mp3 lagu india film mann. Usually when someone is talking about a demo, they are talking about this replay file, not the demo version of the game. Don't get confused.

The file extension for MXS demos is .demo.

Minutes

How many minutes you would like to race. When both this and the number of laps is set to zero, it lets you race forever.

Laps

How many laps you would like to race. When this plus the number of minutes is set to zero, it lets you go on forever.

Gates

This is where you pick how many AI people you would like to race against and where they will line up. This is also where you pick your own gate. Corpse party emulator mac.

Click on, or hit the right/left arrows on the gate that you want to change. It will start out with noone in it, then it can go to one of four things:

  • Human: This means you! Put this where you want to line up.
  • Robot: This is an AI rider on a random bike.
  • Robot 4-stroke: This is an AI rider on a random 4-stroke bike.
  • Robot 2-stroke: This is an AI rider on a random 2-stroke bike.

Remember that this is only for races against the AI. If you want to pick your gate in multiplayer mode you have to do it another way (See Multiplayer).
