更に続けて・・・ビートルズを取り上げた ”The Roots of the Beatles”
２３曲収録（５６分）。ポール版とジョン版、両方との重複は "Long Tall Sally" と "Be-Bop-A-Lula"の２曲、ポール版のみとは "Matchbox" "Searchin'" "Kansas City" の３曲、ジョン版のみとは "Dizzy Miss Lizzy" １曲。つまり計６曲がダブっての収録・・・これには少々ガッカリ。
担当者、何とかならなかったのか！？と怒りたくもなるが、この盤だけをトータルで聴けば、良編集盤に変わりない。
ビートルズが取り上げたカバー曲というと、魅力的なガールズ・グループを即座に連想するが、この盤には未収録。よってポール版、ジョン版と比較すると、この点でも分が悪い（笑）。
ただ、ハンブルグ時代にカバーしていたという曲を多数収録しており、
"Heartbreak Hotel"といった超名曲も入っている。ま、この曲を収録したＣＤは、誰でも相当数持ってるとは思うがｗ そうした下積み時代楽曲とBBC、アンソロジーの元ネタを収録したマニアック選曲盤と捉えると興味深いかなと。選曲の切り口が一筋縄ではいかない点が、かつてのルーツものと一線を画したユニーク盤。
