It is such a useful little word!

It is a word that is so commonly used in Japanese and in this resource I have introduced it within the context of a response from the Pray for Japan website.

Communication is all about developing relationships and knowing the right words to express empathy can really empower a second language learner.

I hope that through this resource your students will come to understand the importance and significance of the word *Daijyoubu *- and hopefully never forget it!

In Australia we must teach about *values* as part of our curriculum. I am so excited to be able to teach values through Japanese!

The Japanese response to the disasters that have befallen them is truly inspiring and this is a wonderful opportunity to display the positive ethics that sustain their society.

This resource is not particularly language focused as my hope is that teachers of English and Social Studies would also be able to use it.

Dignity, respect, equality
- these are things we need to encourage in our students.

I hope this helps you do that!

The Tohoku Earthquake had a devastating effect on Japan and people worldwide watched in sorrow as the events unfolded.

In the Japanese classes we have had discussions based on news and videos to better understand the overall impact of the earthquake on Japan.

We used a concept web (imagery map) on the whiteboard, and I have made a Power Point version that can be downloaded.

It includes topics such as transportation, communication, and housing, but the file can be easily altered to add or delete words.
