これ以上の修飾語が不要なほどグローバルアーティストでありアイコンとして頂点に立ち、もう一つのチャプターを開いた今、 
これまでの音楽活動を通じて、今日の意味を改めて振り返る。
長年の準備と製作期間を経て所属事務所ビッグヒットミュージック(BIGHIT MUSIC)発行する、BTSに関する初のオフィシャルブック。
そしてBTSが直接語る、今まで聞くことのできなかった一番気になる話。

『ビヨンド·ザ·ストーリー(BEYOND THE STORY)』はアーティストであり個人としてBTSの淡泊な表情と目つきを盛り込んだ21カットの肖像写真で、彼ら一人一人を紹介し、落ち着いてドアを開ける。 やがてBTSに関する「物語の向こう(beyond the story)」の話が始まる。 文はカン·ミョンソクの叙述を主軸に流れながら、BTSのインタビューコメントが間に収録され躍動感と真正性を加える。 

そのように筆者の文章とBTSの声が調和して一連の流れを作り出すと同時に、『ビヨンド·ザ·ストーリー』はBTSの音楽活動に関する資料をまさにこの一冊に集大成した。 デジタル時代のアーティストらしく、デビュー前の練習生時代からインターネットプラットフォームを介して世の中とコミュニケーションをとってきたBTS。 そのような点で、この本は読者がBTSの活動に従って本文に言及される映像や音源などに直ちに接することができることを望んだ。 その結果、なんと330個以上のQRコードを本文の随所に収録した、単行本では珍しい構成を備えることになった。 これでBTSの活動史に一線を画した核心的な資料を文だけでなく映像、音源、各種掲示物など多様な形態で一堂に会することができる。

この他にも歴代すべてのアルバムのコンセプトフォトとトラックリストを収録し、アルバム別トレーラーおよびミュージックビデオを鑑賞できるQRコード、内容の理解を助ける豊かな注釈などが適材適所に配置されている。 それだけでなく、BTSのアルバム発売やコンサート、受賞内訳、対外活動など主要履歴を一目でまとめたタイムラインまで。 『ビヨンド·ザ·ストーリー』はBTSに関する一つのアーカイブとして断然注目に値する。

オリジナルエディションである韓国語版を基に、全23言語に翻訳出版される『ビヨンド·ザ·ストーリー』。 そのうち10ヶ余りの言語版がBTSのファンダムARMYが誕生した7月9日、いわゆる「ARMY Day」に韓国語版と同時出版され、9月までにその他の言語版が順次出版される。 韓国語図書がその出版日に十数個の言語版を各地で並んで披露するのは実に空前絶後のことであり、日曜日出版という点もまた類例のない歩みだ。
外国語版の面々も注目に値する。 世界3大文学賞の一つであるブッカー賞(Booker Prize)インターナショナル部門最終候補に上がった韓英翻訳家アントン·ハー(Anton Hur)、漢江の『菜食主義者』とチョン·ボラの『呪いウサギ』などをドイツ語に移した翻訳家イ·ギヒャンをはじめ、韓国の文学と文化を様々な言語で世界に活発に紹介している多数の翻訳家がこの本の外国語版作業に参加した。

過ぎ去った道を振り返る時間は、すなわち前に進む時間になる。 いつからかBTSの毎瞬間、毎歩は世の中になかった道、誰も行ったことのない道を出す挑戦になった。 デビュー10周年という意味深い時を迎え、これまでの歩みを振り返ってみるものの、それからBTSはより長く輝かしい日々を送る動力を育てる。 そうして今ここでBTSは、もう一歩踏み出しながら前進することを選ぶ。
