Went for my first pole lesson today - it was a disaster.
Ignoring the fact that everyone [save Sue, who was having her first lesson, like I was, but even then, she doesn't really count because she has had pole lessons before] was already 3 lessons ahead of me, I really feel that I could have done much better.
Everyone did pretty Vanessas and Knee-Spins, all I did was cling on to the pole for dear life and look stupid.
When we were told to try the Spin-Climb [or something like that], it was all I could do to keep the pole spinning and stick my pelvis to the pole and throw my head back. HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO CLIMB UP?!
Matters were made worse when "newcomers at the back, please" rendered me invisible to the teacher and my pleas for help whenever, "You okay back there?" was shouted went unheard.
All I could do was struggle to keep up and figure out stuff on my own... ... But... ... I'm not very good at figuring stuff out by myself. ><
I must have retained some of the stuff Trinity taught during reggae, though, because I think my hip and shoulder rolls and hair flips are cooler than the rest of the class. Hehehe. And I can do the chest-on-the-ground push up!!
Trinity shouldn't have quit.. I miss reggae so much. =(
I am determined to be better, though, so I am going to go for practice sessions diligently every Friday. People who want to join me, feel free to come along! It's from 12PM - 130PM.
I might not be cut out to be a pole dancer - I feel so demoralized after today's session! - but I will at least graduate from beginner's pole with style.
Meanwhile, I have the Chingay dance sessions to look forward to! I hope those will be more of my "type" of dance. Faster paced and more dynamic. Pole's too slow for my liking, but I suppose I will come to love it when time goes by.
