ロープと洗濯バサミと風船で的を作って、子どもたちとPKゲームをしました。風船を触りたい子、ボールを蹴りたい子、子どもたちのコントロールにひと苦労。
8th Aug (402 days) hitting the target football version
I made a target by some ropes, clothespin and balloons, then enjoyed PK game with children. It was hard to control children, someone wanted to touch balloons and others wanted to kick a ball.
403日目、誕生日パーティー
洗濯物を干していると、斜め向かいの家から歌が聞こえてきました。「ハッピーバースデー、トゥーユー♪」。ガーナでは続いて「ハゥ、オールド、アーユー、ナゥ」を同じメロディーで歌います。同僚の末っ子の誕生日パーティーでした。お誕生日おめでとう。
9th Aug (403 days) birthday party
A song reached me from house stands cater-corner when I hanged washes. “Happy birthday to you!!” In Ghana, they continue “How old are you now?” with the same melody. It was a birthday of the youngest child of colleagues. Happy birthday!
404日目、スカウト
前回の障害当事者ミーティングで見かけて気になっていた、障害児のお母さんに話しかけてみました。どうやら理学療法は受けていない様子です。来月の親子プログラムの参加者候補に追加。
10th Aug (404 days) scout
I saw a mother who has a child with disabilities at the last meeting. Then I talked to her. They have never had any physical therapy. I put them on a list of mother and child program next month.
405日目、エボラ対策
ガーナにエボラ出血熱の感染者はいません。でも念には念を入れてということなのか、診察室に石けん、使い捨て手袋、除菌ジェルが配備されました。
11th Aug (405 days) precautions against Ebola hemorrhage fever
There is no infected person of Ebola hemorrhage fever. However, just to be doubly sure, a soap, disposal groves and antiseptic gel were deployed.
406日目、ビデオ撮影
入所者さんにお願いして断端に弾性包帯を自分で巻いている様子をビデオに撮りました。すべて自分だけで作っても結局使われずに終わりそうなので、次回は現地スタッフも巻き込もう。

I asked amputees to do bandaging and recorded self-bandaging for their stump. I think that it may not be used, I want include local staffs next time.
407日目、帰国
ドイツからのボランティアが予定より早く帰国することになりました。エボラ出血熱を警戒しての結果だそう。これ以上感染が広がりませんように。
13th Aug (407 days) return to own country
Volunteers from Germany have been decided to come back their country. The reason was that they wary of Ebola hemorrhagic fever. I wish it will not be expanded any more.
408日目、送別会
清掃担当の従業員の送別会が開かれました。ガーナ料理のバンクーとティラピアとローカルのアルコールが振る舞われました。スピーチと写真撮影は日本の送別会と同じですが、締めにシャンパン、初めと終わりにお祈りが入るのはガーナの慣習なんだろうか？

A farewell party was hold for a worker in charge of cleaning. They entertained with Ghanaian food, banku, tilapia and local alcohol. Speech and taking photographs are the same as Japan. But, is it a custom peculiar to shear champagne by way of conclusion and play at the beginning and end?

同僚にこれまでの活動のまとめと、今後の計画について書いた活動状況表を見せて、コメントをもらいました。なかなか自分の考えを細かく伝える時間がないので、意見を聞く良い機会となりました。

I showed a table that my summary of activities and future plan was written to my colleagues, and then I was given her comments. We don’t enough time to tell the details what I’m thinking, so it became a good opportunity to hear her opinion.
410日目、ローカルの葉っぱ
ガーナ人と共にマーケットへ。ベビーリーフのような葉っぱがマーケットに並んでいました。おばちゃんに聞くと「ボコボコ」という名前の葉とのこと。サラダほうれん草のような味で、スープにして美味しくいただきました。
16th Aug (410 days) local leaves
I went to a market with a Ghanaian. Some leaves that look like baby leaf were arrayed in the market. A woman said it named “Bokoboko”. It tastes spinach for salad, I made a soup and enjoyed it.

北部の州から総会のために首都に来ている隊員、イギリスやブルキナファソから帰国した隊員、これからウガンダに研修に行く同期などなど、いろいろな話を聞けてリフレッシュ。
17th Aug (411 days) mix with volunteers
Some of JOCV came back from UK or Burkina Faso, another one has left to Uganda to take part in a seminar, other one came from northern areas. We talked each other and were refreshed.
412日目、バンクーの食べ方
現地の人たちはガーナの主食「バンクー」をオクラやトマトのシチュー、辛いソースなどと一緒に食べます。ちょっと違う味を試してみたいと思い、コチュジャン、スィートソース（甘酢？）、マスタードと一緒に食べてみました。同じ辛味ということでコチュジャンはグッド。マスタードはいまいち。スイートソースはなかなか良い組み合わせでした。
18th Aug (412 days) how to eat banku
Local people have a staple diet of banku with stew in which okras or tomatoes, hot sauce. I wanted to try different taste, then I ate it with "kocyujyan", "sweet sauce", "mustard". "kocyujan"goes well with "banku" because of the same taste. Mustard isn't quite good. Ｓｗｅｅt sauce made an good combination with "banku".

出張床屋さんが配属先に来て、子どもたちの髪をカットしていました。生え際はバリカンで、サイドとトップは櫛に剃刀を添えて指で固定し、一定の長さにカットします。器用な手つきに感心。
19th Aug (413 days) hair cut
Barber came to my workplace, and cut children’s hair. He cut hairline with hair clippers, then he held a razor on a comb and standardize the length of side and top hair. I admired a way of using his hand.
414日目、入学手続き
大きな荷物を持って続々と人がやって来ました。義肢装具士養成校の2期生です。協力隊の訓練所の入所を思い出す光景です。
20th Aug (414 days) school registration
Many people flowed in with large bags. They are members of the prostheses and orthosis school’s second graduating class. It looks like a scene of admission to training center of JICA volunteers.
415日目、草むしり
庭の草むしりをしていると、お隣の子が手伝いに来て、泥んこになりながらも一生懸命むしってくれました。しかし、最後に、育ってきたカカオの芽を抜こうとしたので慌ててストップ。危ないところだった。
21st Aug (415 days) weeding
I weeded glasses in the yard, the girl who lives in neiborhood came to help me. She weeded hard with mud. However, at last I put a stop to her because she was going to pull out shoots of cocoa. It was close.
416日目、ドレス回収できず
午後2時に取りに行くと、夕方来ると思ってまだ完成していない、とのこと。2時でできていなかったら夕方に完成させるのは無理だろうなぁ。
22nd Aug (416 days) I couldn’t collect my dress
I went to shop to collect my dress at 2 pm, but she said that it had not been completed because she thought I would come in the evening. Considering even she had not done until 2 pm, it would not be possible to finish in the evening.
417日目、補習校見学 
在ガーナ日本人のお子さん、ガーナ人と結婚した日本人のお子さんのための学校が土曜日に開かれています。国によっては日本政府が設置した日本人学校がありますが、ガーナにはありません。いつ日本に帰っても日本の教育レベルに追い付けるように、保護者や、ガーナに勤務する日本人が講師となって国語や数学を教えています。
23rd Aug (417 days) observation of a continuation school
The school is open on Saturday for children whose Japanese parents stay in Ghana and those who are children of mother or father is married with Ghanaian. There is a school for Japanese students that is set up by Japanese government depend on the country, but no school only for Japanese students. in order to catch up the level of Japanese education.
418日目、総会準備と保健隊員交流会
朝からJICA中部のスタッフさんとスカイプで打ち合わせ。その後自治会の会議、その後物品と会場の準備、そして保健隊員の交流会。大忙しの日曜日でした。
24th Aug (418 days) preparation of general assembly and meeting with volunteers of health
We connected to the internet to use Skype and held preliminary discussions with staffs in central branch of JICA. After that we had meeting of volunteers' association, and then, prepaired items and arranged a meeting place, finally joined a mingling party. It was very busy Sunday.
419日目、けがの功名
総会ではエボラ出血熱やコレラのお話、隊員の活動報告等でお勉強。その後、計画ではトルコ料理を食べに行くはずだったけれど、移転準備のため韓国料理屋に変更。店主のお母さんがとっても温かい人で、みんなこのお店の虜になりました。やっぱり人の対応がリピーターになる一番の要素、という意見で全員一致。
25th Aug (419 days) a lucky accident
We studied about Ebola hemorrhage fever, cholera and learned from report of volunteers’ activities. After that, we went Korean restaurant. At first, we were going to Turkish restaurant. Because of preparation for transfer a store. The proprietress is very warmhearted woman, so that we became captivated by her restaurant. Finally, we all agreed that the best factor of getting many repeaters is hospitality.
