ミーティングに1時間とられたため、6人まとめてグループ練習。同僚2人が戻ってからも、週1回はこのスタイルで進めるのは良いかもしれません。
28th Mar (269 days) new findings
We spent 1 hour for meeting, then I instructed 6 children and mothers at the same time. It may be useful to do by this exercise style once a week after coming back 2 colleagues.

新隊員に向けたオリエンテーションを自治会メンバーで行いました。4日後から始まるホームステイプログラム、色んな経験をして楽しん来てねー。

There was an orientation for new volunteers by members of Ghana volunteers’ association. Enjoy experiences a variety of things in a homestay program that start after 4days from now.
271日目、オーダーから1ヶ月
1か月前に仕立てに出したワンピースを友人に取りに行ってもらったところ、「出来上がっていませんでした」とのこと。デザインに分からないところがあって作業が進んでいなかった様子。電話番号を紙に書いて渡したのだから連絡くれればよかったのに。
31st Mar (271 days) one months from order
I asked my friend to pick up a dress that gave to a tailor to have it made into dress one month ago. My friend said that it had not been completed. A seamstress stopped work because she had question about a design. She should’ve phoned. I already had given her my phone number.
272日目、おかえりー
2か月会っていなかった同僚が休暇から帰ってきました。今日は昼休み15分、でも普通に仕事してくれる人がいるだけで嬉しい。
1st Apr (272 days) welcome back to our place
One of my colleagues has come back from vacation. Today, I took a lunch break 15 minutes, but I’m happy there is somebody who works normally.
273日目、改良松葉杖
改良装具に続いて改良松葉杖の催促。いつまでたっても作成に取り掛かってくれないので、理学療法室の棚に眠っていた松葉杖を持って行きました。そして、テーブルの上にあった材料を指定してとりあえず笑顔で依頼。いつ出来上がる事やら・・
2nd Apr (273 days) reformed crutches
I demanded to make reformed crutches after reformed orthosis. He never starts make it, I brought crutches that left long time in a shelf of physical therapy room. Then, I requested him again to use material on the table with smile. I wonder when it will be finished.
274日目、真面目な人もいます
隣の州の職業訓練校から装具作成技術を学びに来ている学生がいます。彼の職業訓練校には装具を必要とする学生もいるので、その学校で生徒たちの装具を作成・修理する仕事をしたいそうです。「何かちょうだい」「日本に連れてって」という人ばかりではないと知ってちょっと嬉しくなりました。
3rd Apr (274 days) a serious minded student
There is a student who came from vocational school in next region to learn how to make orthosis. Some students in his school need orthosis, so he wants to work to make and repair their orthosis for students. I feel happy to know not all Ghanaian say “Give me something”, “Bring me to Japan”.
275日目、お母さんセラピスト
今日も15人を対応しなければならないので、グループ指導です。お母さんの中には強く握りすぎてしまう人もいますが、ハンドリングがとっても上手な方もいました。ちゃんと教えたら分かってもらえるのですねー。
4th Apr (275 days) the mother therapist
I organized group exercises because I have to treat 15 children. Some of mother grasped muscles too tight, a few mothers has done handling very well. They understood if I explained carefully.
276日目、家事仕事
今週末は出かける予定が入っていません。シーツ2枚にバックパックにズボンなど、大きい物をお洗濯。もちろん手洗いで！マーケットに行くと、この時期アボカドが旬なのか、4個100円程度で売られていました。アボカド＆トマトディップ作ってみました。ガーナ人はアボカドでどんな料理を作っているんだろう？
5th Apr (276 days) house work
I have no plan to go out. I washed big items, two sheets, backpack, trousers, and so on. Of course by hand washing! They sell 4 avocados for \100, it might be in season. I made a dip from avocados and tomatoes. What kind of dishes Ghanaian make by avocados?

近所のお店まで卵を買いに出かけました。お店の中にいる人に声をかけると、見たことがある女性が。彼女は毎週外来に通って来ている患者さんでした、お大事に。

I went shopping to a store in neighborhood. I called to a clerk in the store, there is a woman whom I sow before. She is an outpatient. Take care.
278日目、コットンの雪
ガーナで雪が降っている！と思いきや、その白いものの正体は綿でした。小高いところに立っている木の綿が風に吹かれて飛んできていたものでした。
7th Apr (278 days) cotton snow
I thought it snowed in Ghana. But, the white one was cotton. It flied with the wind from a tree stood on a hill.
279日目、先人セラピスト
PT歴37年の理学療法士がオランダからやって来ました。未開発の地で障害を持った人たちを支援するセンターを立ち上げるために活動していたオランダ人を建設段階から手伝っていたそうです。この地で出会う人々のボランティア精神、尊敬します。
8th Apr (279 days) pioneer therapist
A physical therapist came from Holland who worked for 37 years. She supported a Dutch people who had worked to open a center to support people with disabilities in an area where had not been developed. I respect those peoples’ volunteer spirits who I met in this country.
280日目、ガーナの人を動かすのは難しい
研修生にお願いした装具改良計画中断です。対象とする患者さんはすでに一つ装具を作っている。研修生の勉強のために計測までは許可するけれど、試作品の作成は許可しないとのこと。患者さんは完成を待っているのに、何の報告も無く中断されていたのでした。スタッフ間のコミュニケーション不足は深刻な問題です。
9th Apr (280 days) it’s difficult to move Ghanaian
The plan to improve orthosis was stopped that I asked to internship. The patient already has pared of orthosis. Measurement was allowed but he wasn’t been allowed to make a prototype. The patient wait that the prototype, but it was stopped with no information. Lack of communication between staffs is serious problem.
281日目、先輩のデモンストレーション
オランダから来ている先輩理学療法士が1人の女の子のデモンストレーションをしてくれました。頸椎の動きについて飛行機の翼に例えて説明してくれたので、とてもわかりやすかったです。

senior physical therapist from Holland demonstrated of a girl. She explained us movement of cervical vertebrae clearly that as it looks like wings of plane.
282日目、雨期の始まり
今日も15人のちびっ子たちとお母さんとエクササイズ。8人終えたところで雲行きが怪しくなり、普通の声で会話ができないほど激しい雨が降ってきました。雨の間に1時間休憩をとり、今日も17時までしっかり労働、さらにおもちゃの清掃とコルセットの洗濯と記録のため17時半まで残業。本当は一人ひとり時間をかけたいところだけど、やはりキャパシティーオーバー・・
11th Apr (282 days) beginning of rainy season
I did exercises with 12 children. When I treated 8, heavy rain had come. I took lunch break while rain. I worked full time until 5 p.m.
283日目、ガーナ代表チームと対戦
日本の援助で作られた野球場で、ナショナルチームと親善試合が開催されました。日本チームメンバーは大使館職員とJICA職員と我らボランティア。0対6で4回コールド負けでした。次回は1点入れたい！

We hold baseball game at the baseball stadium that was constructed by ODA. Member of team Japan consist of Japan embassy staffs, JICA, JOCV. Score is 0 - 6 we lost. We wish get 1 point in next game.
284日目、予定変更
毎月1回開催されている、身体障害を持つ人のグループのミーティングを見学に行く予定でした。いつもの場所に行ってみると、子どもたちがたくさん座っています。責任者の女性に聞くと「その人たちは昨日来ていた」とのこと。来月こそは会えますように。
13th Apr (284 days) change the plan
I had a plan to observe a monthly meeting that members have physical disabilities. When I arrived at the usual place, many children were sitting there. I asked a woman responsible for the mass, she said “Those people came here yesterday”, I wish I will meet them.
285日目、発達のスピードが違う
8か月の男の子がやって来ました。お母さん曰く、まだ立つことができないとのこと。全体的に低緊張な印象。他の2人の兄弟は8カ月で歩くようになったのだそうです。本当かなぁ？オランダのセラピストもヨーロッパでは普通の発達スピードですといっていました。日本も同じです。同僚のガーナ人スタッフは4か月で座るようになると言っていたけど、アフリカの子たちは発達スピードが速いのでしょうか？
14th Apr (285 days) is it different of speed of growth
8-years-old boy had come. His mother said that he couldn’t stand. I think he has low muscle tone. His other brothers walked when they ware 8 months old. I wonder it is true or not? The therapist from Holland said his growth speed is normal in Europe, it is as same as in Japan. My colleague said that 4 months old babies can sit themselves. Do African children grow faster than other countries?

職人さん、改良松葉杖をついに作成してくれました。これで杖を使うガーナの子の歩行の姿勢が変わるか確かめよう。
15th Apr (286 days) first prototype
Finally, one of the technician completed improved crutches. I can make sure whether the posture of Ghanaian children’s while they walk will be changed or not.
