Electrical vehicles are supposed to reduce carbon dioxide. However, we have to count CO2 emissions not only exhausted by moving Electric vehicles (hereafter referred to as EVs) but also exhausted by the electrical power generation which charges EVs.
Thermal power stations which burn oil and coal discharge CO2. CO2 emissions by the average vehicle which uses gasoline are around 150g/km, which is as same as an EV using the electricity generated by a thermal power station.
In Shikoku and Okinawa area, where power generation relies on oil power stations, EVs are not the solution to decrease the volume of CO2.
What is important to suppress CO2 emission by vehicles is at the power generation stage. We should shift to renewable energy such as hydro, PV, wind, and tide power generation. Only with the CO2 free energy source, do EVs become true CO2 emission-free vehicles.
