(Bi) スティーブ・ポウル･ジョブズ氏の言葉
昨日の訃報はなんかやっぱり…ショックでしたね。
マックが出た当初、それまでのワープロと、コマンド入力でのコンピュータ操作が
『マウス』と『アイコン』クリックだけで出来るようになったのに驚きました。
グラフィックデザインをやってた90年代、
すでにソフトでレタリングなどをやってたのを覚えています。
アイマックのカラフルなデザイン、形。
アイブックの美しいラインと白。
アイポッドの小ささ、便利さ…
マックはいつも夢とセンスを生活の中に運び込んでくれました。
ジョブズ氏の短命を心から惜しみ、哀悼の意を捧げます。
スタンフォードでのスピーチは有名ですが、
ブロ友のＡＫＩさんがすでに字幕付きで動画を紹介していますから、
ワシからは彼の言った言葉60をのせたサイトから
ほんの20ばかり翻訳して紹介させてください。
そこでは公的な顔であるスティーブだけでなく、
私的なポウルも素晴らしかったことが伺えると思います。

そう、誰かがこう言う

そう、パーティにはならないだろう、
でもアップルには有能な人間がたくさんいる。

ポップカルチャーってわけじゃない。人をカツぐことでもない、
彼らが欲しくもないものをほしがるようにすることでもないんだ。
自分達が欲しいものを見つけ出すこと。
我々はそれって他の多くの人も欲しがるんじゃないかって
考えるための厳しい研究に長けている。
そうすることで給料をもらってるんだ。

何かいいアイデアが浮かぶと、そう、自分のやることのひとつがこれをいじりまわすこと。
違う人がどう思うかを観たり、それについてしゃべらせたり、
議論する。アイデアを100人くらいに回してみるんだ。
違うタイプの人間達をいっしょにして違う見方を探ってみる。
そう、いろいろ探検するってこと。

Are they going to fall in love with Apple?

歳の行ったものを雇うときには、適性がカギだ。
もちろん有能でなければならない、でも自分にとって大事なのは、
彼らがアップルと恋に落ちるかってこと。
もしぞっこんとなれば、他の事は自然に進んでいく。
アップルのためにベストなことをしたくなる。
自分達のためでも、このスティーブのためでも、誰のためでもなくなるんだ。

ほとんどすべてのもの。外からの期待や、プライド、
恥かくことの怖れ、失敗。
こんなもんは死の前には消えていく。
ほんとに大事なものだけが残るんだ。
自分が死ぬってことを覚えとくのが最良の方法だ。
何か失うものがあるんじゃないかって考える罠を避けるためにはね。
人はいつだって裸さ。心のままにやってはいけないって理由はない。
