ケータイ版 数える名詞

前回の数えられる名詞を表にしたため、ケータイで見れなかった方のための編集です。

この単語は数えられるのかどうかわからない時ってありませんか？
今回はそれについて少し…

絶対的なルールはないんですが、同じような意味の単語でも、
具体的なものと、抽象的なもので分かれることが多いようです。
以下の単語は同じような物でもその２つに分かれます。

○数えられる
●数えられない

○dollar
●money

○song
●music

○suitcase
●luggage

○table
●furniture

○battery
●electricity

○onion
●garlic

○report
●information

○tip (ヒント)
●advice

○journey
●travel

○job (職)
●work (仕事)

○story
●history

他に数えられないものは；
art, love, happiness
rice, sugar, butter, water
gas, power
news, currency

しかし、数えられる単語と一緒に使えばOKです。

a piece of news
a bottle of water
a grain of rice

数えられない名詞に使う量的な単語は
a little, little, much, some, any :

例文

It is a little worry.

それはちょっと心配だ

I have little money.
お金を少ししか持ってない

I don't have much power.

そんなに力がない

I have some work.

やることが少しある

Do you have any news?

何かニュースはあるかい？

数えられる名詞には
a few, few, many, some, any :

例文

I have a few questions.

いくつか質問があります

I have few dollars.

ドルは少しか持ってない

I have many pens.

ペンをたくさん持っている

I have some ideas.

いくつかアイデアがある

Do you have any kids?

お子さんはお持ち？

worry はどちらもあり。
心配の数は数えられるが、
度合いは数えられない。

また、通常数えられない単語でも、呼び名であったり具体的な例を挙げるときなどは数えることができます。

コーヒーに毛が２本入ってたよ
● I don't have much hair.

髪の量が多くはない

light
○ There are two lights in our bedroom.

寝室には照明が２つある

● Close the curtain. There's too much light!　

カーテン閉めて！明るすぎるから

noise
○ Shhhhh! I thought I heard a noise.

シー、何か物音が聞こえる
● It's hard to work when there is too much noise.

騒音が多いと仕事しづらい

paper
○ Do you have a paper to read? (= newspaper)

君、新聞持ってる？
● I want to draw a picture. Do you have some paper?

お絵描きしたいんだけど何か紙持ってる？

room
○ Our house has seven rooms.

家は7部屋あります
● Is there room for me to sit here?

ここに座れる余地がありますか？

time
○ We had a great time at the party.

パーティではステキな時間をすごしたよ
● Do you have time for a coffee?

コーヒー飲む時間ある？

work
○ Macbeth is one of Shakespeare's greatest works.

マクベスはシェイクスピアの傑作のひとつです
● I have no money. I need work !
お金がない、仕事が必要
