Hello!
My name is Caress and I am a Licensed Professional Teacher from Philippines. Over the years, I have the joy of teaching Japanese, Chinese, Korean and Filipino learners. I never thought that I will ever reach this kind of milestone, connecting with learners from all ages with different nationalities and backgrounds given that I am an introverted and shy person. I guess you just have to take the risk and put yourself out there just like what I did in Year 2023.
In 2023, I took the risk to join as a volunteer tutor in a non-profit organization I found in Facebook. It's called "Tulong Karunungan". This specific organization aimed to help students who are financially challenged and has the limited access in education. Thus, they offer free tutorial sessions to these students. Being part of that organization became my starting point to hone my teaching skills as a tutor/teacher, gradually leading me to become an ESL teacher where I started to teach Chinese students. I learned a lot specially with the technicalities, teaching approach and strategies because teaching online is completely different from the way you teach onsite. As time goes on, I also started to teach other nationalities such as Korean and Japanese learners. Not that they are only kind, but they are also polite and committed in class.
Looking back and as I write this, I'm completely in awe because I never thought that I will come to this point in my life. Hopefully, as years go by I will be able to help and connect with more students. I am hoping to connect to more Japanese learners because I have the dream of becoming an English teacher in Japan. I hope to work as an Assistant Language Teacher (ALT) or English Conversation Teacher (Eikawa) someday. I don't know but for some reason, my heart in teaching leans on the hope of teaching in Japan. There is just something in this country, like a specific connection or calling that calls upon to me. I hope I'll be able to visit and fulfill my dream so I can see to myself whether this is truly my purpose in life or it's something else.
Thank you for reading until this part.
Yours truly,
Teacher Caress
