Last week I attended the first-year first class with students from the "Global Major" program at Sakata Minami High School in Yamagata Prefecture. Last year, we discuss English questions online once a month.

The first class was delayed this year due to the blockade of the Colonovirus, but I finally met. Last year my student is now in 2nd grade and has a new 1st grade class. I met on Thursday morning for the first time.

I was nervous! Yes, even teachers get nervous before meeting our new students. That is natural. I think the new students were also nervous, but after a while they seemed calm and I was happy. I thought it was horrible to meet me online, but really I'm not so scared.

Covered some basic English sentence structures so that you can ask good questions in future classes.

Second grade is amazing! They are very confident in English. I visited the school in February and met in person, so they are now better at it. I think this is comfortable for us to learn together. Now they seem very confident and seriously ask me many interesting questions. This makes me very happy because they were nervous and quiet when we were together in our first class early last year!

So don't worry if you're nervous in the 1st grade group. That is natural. You will feel more comfortable and confident over time. Just keep going.

Good luck to you.

This month, Canadian students and I also released the latest episode of the video series, ENGLISH WEIRDNESS.

This past week, I joined the students of the "Global Major" program at Sakata Minami High School in Yamagata online for the first classes of the year. For the past year, we have been meeting once a month online to discuss English language questions.

This year, due to the Coronoavirus lockdown, our first class had been delayed, but finally we met.My students from last year are now in their 2nd year, and a new, 1st year class have join me.On Thursday morning, we met for the first time.

I was so nervous! Yes, even teachers get nervous before we meet our new students. It's natural.I think the new students were also nervous, but after a little time, they seemed to get more comfortable with me, and that mades me happy .It must be intimidating to meet me online, I thought, but really, I'm not so scary.

We covered some basic English sentence structures so we can ask good questions in future classes.

The 2nd -year students are amazing! They have grown so confident in their English.I visited the school in February and met them in person, so now they now me better, and I think this helps us be comfortable together to learn. Now, it seems they have excellent confidence and earnestly ask me many interesting questions. This makes me so happy, because, early last year, in our first classes together, THEY WERE NERVOUS AND QUIET TOO!

So, 1st-year group, don't worry if you feel nervous. It's natural. You will get more comfortable and confident with time.Just keep going.

Good luck to you.
