LOVE FOR FIGURE SKATING AND MUSIC

フィギュアスケート、映画、好きなものについてまったり書いています。

Shoma Uno was 2nd and Shu Nakamura 6th at the 2012 Winter Youth Olympic Games in Innsbruck.

I think both of them are skaters who can attract audience by their steps and spins.

I want to watch their performances...涙!

To the Olympia world Ice Stadium now and the men's free skate. Going into the long programs, China's Yan Han was a leader over Russia's Feodosi Efremenkov with Michael Martinez of the Philippines sitting in third position. But none of the challengers planed the programs technically difficult as a Chinese including a planed quad toe loop.

Opening with a solid triple, Han's typical speed and energy seemed off in the result of fever. He has been vaselined since yesterday. A rare miss here. And there would be no attempt of a quad otherwise a technical and artistic program which would be tough to catch.

Russia's Feodosi Efremenkov was the closest challenger. But early on his program appeared nerves got better on him. Knowing that the Olympic medal was within his glass, Efremenkov battled back fighting for the landing and adding the triples to the end of his routine to gain extra technical marks. Although he wouldn’t beat his season's best performer with this skate, it would be enough to land his spot on the podium.

Japan's Shoma Uno was sitting in the sixth place. In the start it was clear that he was on with this beautiful triple lutz. His jumping ability was undeniable as he nailed his triple flip. Artistically he else was shown with stunning combination spin. But would his routine be enough to pulling him from the 6th onto the podium? It would be.

In the end China's Yan Han held on the first. Japan's Shoma Uno jumped in the second and Russia's Feodosi Efremenkov took third.

Han: "I'm really glad to attend the first youth Olympic Games in Innsbruck. Very excited about this good performance as a gold medalist."

Uno: "I wouldn't have dreamed about becoming the second at the first youth Olympic Games. I’m very very happy."

Efremenkov: "I was very glad and I was lucky to take part in the first youth Olympic winter sport games."

Nakamura and his team explain that he needs to improve his jumps to maintain stability.

I wonder how this program would be if he did clean performance.
This choreography is beautiful.
