是晚跟媽媽去吃晚餐~
我們光顧了一直想嘗試的意大利餐廳POOR ITALIAN RISTORANTE


My mother and I went to try out a new restaurant - Poor Italian Ristorante.
Tehnically it is not that new seeing that it has been operating for more than a year, but it is our first time to come to this restaurant.

話說餐廳的位置比較偏僻 - 就在公路入口的前面
在這個位置創業其實也很難的,
因為大多數駕駛者都是為了上公路以經過門口
在這幾年間這個位置已轉了幾任東主
今次轉到POOR ITALIAN的老闆手上, 發現餐廳不但能生存超過一年
而且門口的停車場還是常停滿車
好奇之下, 為食的我和媽媽決定來試一試
這到底是家什麼的意大利餐廳


This restaurant was not located in a prime area. In fact it is located at somewhere I believe is bad for businesses - it is right in front of the entrance to the High way. Businesses started up there over the years normally could not survive for more than a year. Yet Poor Italian Ristorante is an exception: It has been operating for more than a year and till now, their parking is always fulling packed during dining hours. Since it was en route of my way back home, I always come across it noticing how their existence changed the neighborhood. Eventually it got me and my mom interested in trying it out for our first time.

餐桌上的BREAD BASKET
有FOCACCIA, 法式百吉包, 麵包條
而陪的是WHIPPED BUTTER
和很多意大利餐廳所用的OLIVE OIL + BALSAMICO不同
不過同時付是雜錦OLIVE
不吃麵包, 喝著APRETIF和吃著OLIVE就夠了



The bread basket.
It is unlike the ones lavished with foccacia and olive oil with balsamic that you normally find in authentic Italian restaurants. This one has foccacia(of course), baguette and bread sticks. It was also served with whipped butter instead of EVOO. But in addition they give you some assorted olives to nipple on while you have an cocktail or an apretif.

是日前菜~
是用了鮮水牛奶MOZZARELLA做的CAPRESE 沙律
要吃CAPRESE就最好用鮮水牛奶MOZZARELLA
因為就只有用鮮水牛奶做出來的MOZZARELLA
才能有如CREAM CHEESE那樣入口溶化的質感


Today's Appetizer~
Caprese Salad with Fresh Mozzarella.
Although it is not mandatory, Caprese is always best served with real buffalo milk mozzerella cheese for that creamy texture that melts in your mouth.

主菜我同樣是點了是日菜式~藍青口TAGLIATELLE
TAGLIATELLE是一種被LINGUINE更粗, 但比FETTUCCINE 更幼的意大利麵
從字面上來看, 意語 "TAGLIARE" 解作 "切",
是意廚做好意大利麵粉團擠平在切成此狀的意大利麵.
一般TAGLIATELLE適合配較濃的肉汁
但配上新鮮藍青口和鮮番茄醬, 別有一番南意大利的清新口味


For my main course I had the daily special pasta~ Tagliatelle with Mussles.
Tagaliatelle is thinker than linguine, but thinner than fettucine. Linguistically, Tagliatelle comes form the Italian word "tagaliare", meaning "to cut". As it is noted in its nomenclature, it is associated with the cutting of pasta dough into its shape. Tagaliatelle usually goes well with thick sauces like meat sauces, but it is also great with flavorful seafood sauces like this one made with fresh mussles.

媽媽點的是SABLE FISH
光看賣相也令人食指大動
我偷嘗了一口, 發覺魚肉因為本身的油脂而非常甘香
配上那個不太嗆喉的檸檬忌廉汁
是一道令人很有滿足感的魚料理


My mom had their Sable fish. Just the presentation of this dish is already appetizing, isn't it?
I tried a bite of it, and to my surprise, it is so creamy but not too heavy - probably because the use of its light cream sauce made with lemon. It is a satisfying but not so heavy fish dish.

最後一道菜~是POOR ITALIAN RISTORANTE的招牌甜點 - 檸檬千層酥
在希臘式酥皮內夾上清香的檸檬吉士
配上鮮果和焦糖醬
這和很多人所認識的, 很HEAVY的意式甜點不同
是仿如在南意陽光下, 有陽光味道的輕風一樣的甜點呢~


My dessert is Poor Italian's signature dessert - "Millefoglie"
Millefoglie is simple the Italian term for Mille-feuille in French. This millefoglie is made with pastry similar to filo in texture, and filled with lemon custard accompany with caramel sauce and fresh fruits. This dessert is so fresh and so good that taking one bite of it can take one travel to The Coast of South Italy where breeze is fragrant with the Sun~
