ゴールデンウィークが始まりました。海外からの旅行者も益々増え、観光地はどこも大賑わいのようですね。

 

The Golden week has begun. The number of tourists from overseas is increasing, and all tourist spots seem to be crowded with people.

ほっこり犬は種類によって１０のタイプに分類されます。牧羊犬から愛玩犬まで、役割や飼う目的、姿かたちによって属するグループが決まります。犬を新たに家族に迎える時、例えば子供の友達になってほしい、といった目的がある場合には、このタイプ分けされたグループの中から選べば、理想の犬が見つかる可能性が高くなります。

 

Dogs are classified into 10 types based on breed. From sheepdogs to pet dogs, the group a dog belongs to is determined by its role, purpose, and appearance. When you welcome a new dog to your family, for example, if you want it to be a friend to your child, you will have a better chance of finding the ideal dog if you choose one from this group of types.
 

ニコ戸田奈津子さん。87歳の今も映画字幕翻訳家として活躍しています。プロになるまで20年を費やした努力家ですが、彼女曰く、台詞を翻訳するには英語よりも優れた日本語の能力が必要で、その比率は英語20％、日本語80%. そして翻訳者本人が役者になりきれるセンスも欠かせないようです。

 

Natsuko Toda. She is 87 years old and is still active as a movie subtitle translator. She worked hard for 20 years to become a professional. Her concept is translating lines requires better Japanese ability than English, and the ratio is 20%= English and 80%= Japanese. Moreover a translator needs to have the sense to play the role in movies.
 

にやりイタリア・ミラノの12の地区では午前０時以降のアイスクリーム販売が禁止になります。他にもピザやソフトドリンクも禁止の対象になっていて、夜毎に路上に集まって騒ぐ行為の防止が目的とのこと。しかし夜中のアイスクリームに関してはイタリアならではの文化の一つであるため、非難の声が上がることは避けられない状況です。

 

Ice cream sales will be prohibited after midnight in 12 districts of Milan, Italy. Pizza and soft drinks are also prohibited, with the aim of preventing people from gathering on the streets every night and making noise. However, since midnight ice cream is a part of Italy's unique culture, people  will sure to criticize the law.

 

ガーン日本に滞在中のアフリカからの留学生に「なぜ日本の道路には砂埃が積もっていないのですか？」と聞かれました。彼らの国では砂埃がアスファルトの上にあるのは当たり前。靴はすぐ埃だらけになり、帰宅後の靴磨きは習慣になっているそうです。理由を考えてみました。１＝日本は国土の70%を森林が占め大きな砂漠がない。２＝１年を通して湿度が高めなので埃が舞い上がる頻度が少ない・・・他に何かあるでしょうか？

 

An international students from Africa who are staying in Japan asked me, "Why isn't there dust on the roads in Japan?" In their country, it is natural having dust on the asphalt. Their shoes quickly become covered in dust, and they have to polish them after returning home. I thought out about the reason. 1 = 70% of Japan's land is covered by forests, and there are no large deserts. 2 = Humidity is high throughout the year, so dust doesn't fly up often...Is there anything else?
