Tetsuyo Ishii lives in Onomichi City, Hiroshima Prefecture. She is 102 years old and living by herself working in the fields. The book "102 Years Old, Living Alone", which describes five things to live my own way, is a hot topic. The Grandma Tetsuyo's lifestyle that is eating properly, sleepng well, and talking much gives many people much energy.
◎19年ぶりに「高専」が開校される。「神山まるごと高専」は15歳からテクノロジー、デザイン、起業家精神の３つの分野を同時に学べる学校だ。5年間で人間の豊かな未来のために必要な力を「まるごと」学習できる。自然豊かな徳島県・神山町で地元の人々と触れ合いながらの学びも期待されている。
A National institute of techiical college opens for the first time in 19 years. Kamiyama Marugoto Kosen is a school where students from the age of 15 can study technology, design, and entrepreneurship at the same time. During the five years, you can learn "whole" the skills necessary for a prosperous future for human beings. Students are expected to learn while interacting with the locals in Kamiyama Town, Tokushima Prefecture, which is rich in nature.
◎"Of course"の使い方には気をつけた方がいい。何年か前、英会話学校で初対面の教師に " What is your most favorite drink?"と聞かれた時、”Of course、I like coffee" と答えたのだが、その教師は急に不機嫌になり、会話はそこで終わってしまった。何が悪かったのか全くわからないまま時間が経ってしまったが、たまたまその理由を知る機会があった。それは"Of course"には「当然だよ、お前はそんなことも知らないのか？」の意味が含まれているそうだ。険悪な雰囲気の理由がわかって、やっとスッキリしたという次第。
Be careful how to use "Of course". A few years ago, when I met a teacher at an English conversation school for the first time and was asked, "What is your most favorite drink?", I answered, "Of course, I like coffee." When she hear it, she got in a bad mood and the conversation ended there. Time passed with no idea what was wrong with me, but I happened to find out why. It seems that "Of course" contains the meaning of "Of course, you don't even know that?" Finally I understood the reason for the grim atmosphere.
