Sad to hear the passing of my teacher at Belmont univ, Dr. Bill Pursell. A great pianist, composer, and arranger for Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, and Charlie McCoy whom I thank for writing a letter of recommendation to Dr. Pursell when entering Belmont back in the day.
Pardon my bragging but I got 100 for his composition class! Sure just Dr. being nice to his student, but his compliment gave me enough motivation to keep pursuing my music.
Thank you and rest in peace Dr. Pursell.
ベルモント大学時代の先生、Dr. Bill Pursell が亡くなった。トップ10ヒットもある偉大なピアニスト、作編曲家。ベルモント入学時、チャーリー・マッコイがビルのことよく知ってるからと推薦状書いてくれた。
自慢が許されるなら、彼の作曲のクラスで100点取ったこと。お世辞でも1人の生徒として音楽を追求し続ける動機を得るには十分だった。
以前、達郎さんの番組で彼の音楽がかかった時には日本のラジオで初めて聴いた！と飛び上がった。
