This Tuesday and Wednesday I went to Sendai and Sapporo on a business trip and I had a good time communicating with the two branches’ staff and a subsidiary’s management.
Now I am a manager of the administrative section therefore I seldom to go on a business trip. However until 2004 I usually went to business trips, because I was a sales person in the food marketing and distribution section which covered the whole of Japan and I had gone to the 45 prefectures of the 47 in Japan. It was a tough job but I enjoyed a stimulating time.
This April, I planned to go to all branches in Japan including Sapporo, Sendai, Nagoya, Hiroshima and Fukuoka. Because all branches cooperated with our internal control project and I thought that I had to go there and communicate directly. We usually communicate by e-mail and sometimes by telephone, but the accomplishment of our project needed not only indirect communication but also face to face communication. In September, I went to Nagoya, Hiroshima and Fukuoka then I went to Sendai and Sapporo branches. In addition, I visited a subsidiary in Sapporo. I had a meeting with each branch and I made a presentation to all staff and had Q&A session. I could learn a lot of things in two branches. On the other hand, I had a meeting with the CEO in a subsidiary and listened to their strategy and some issues. After the meeting I visited their newest logistics centers which had a full automatic shipping system. I admired their facilities.
I could enjoy communicating with two branches’ staff and a subsidiary’s management on my business trip.
