今日も一日が終わった。なんとはなしに不安な気分の一日だった。外に出て空の彼方を眺める。視界が開けていると気持ちがいい。
I have a dream の２回目の暗記分。
One hundred years later, we must face the tragic fact that the Negro is still not free. One hundred years later, the life of the Negro is still sadly crippled by the monacles of segrigation and the chains of discrimination. One hundred years later, the Negro lives on a lonely island of poverty in the midst of a vast ocean of material prosperity. One hundred years later, the Negro is still languished in the corners of American society and finds himself an exile in his own land. So we have come here today to dramatize an appalling condition.
今回は多少長い。でもほとんど繰り返しでしかないので、あまり苦労はしなかった。finds himself an exile in his own land は、自らの祖国にいながら自らが疎外されている現実を見なければいけないということだ。この時代、黒人差別は激しく、バスや電車の座席からトイレやレストランまで差別がされていた。現在、そういった目に見える形の差別はほぼなくなっているが、未だに様々な形で黒人やマイノリティを貶める組織的な動きは枚挙にいとまがない。
