今回は忘却バッテリーについて…
とか、書き出しつつ本当は野球を語りたい
私は野球のハナシをよくするが
実は野球が嫌い…
理由は野球が日本では人気が高いスポーツだから…
サブカルとかマイナーなモノが好きな
自分にとってはメジャーなものや人気になるものは
好きになれない…
好きなスポーツは自分ではプレイできないスポーツだが
自動車レースが好きだ
自分の気持ちとしてはモータースポーツが
地上波のゴールデンタイムとかに放送される事を
夢見ている、実現したら、自分にとってどんなに楽しい事だろう…
野球は人気スポーツだから
人とコミュニケーションを取る時に
話題として便利なのだ
でも、野球アニメは好んで観る
それは考え方が為になるものが多いから…
ちょっとハナシが横道に逸れるが
ドカベンの漫画の中で弁慶高校が
歩いて甲子園まで来たというハナシが子供心に残っていて
歩くという行為に凄みを感じたものだ
忘却バッテリーは
あまり試合で勝つ事を目的としたハナシ作りをしていない
各選手の内面に焦点を当てた作品作りをしているのが異色だ
「なぜ自分は野球をやるのか？」
そういう事をキャラクター自身が自分に問うて
前に進んでいく物語だと私は思う
そこには勝ち負けは無い
試合に負けたからといって人として負けた事にはならない
忘却バッテリーに登場するキャラクターの
10年後を想像すると、多分そんなに落ちぶれないだろうと思う
それは野球にひたむきに打ち込んで
挫折して、悩んで、乗り越えられたから
その経験があれば、長い人生も頑張り続けられると思うんだ…
アニメではないが好きな映画を一つあげるとしたら
「フィールドオブドリームズ」を選びたい
「ここは天国か？」
「いや、アイオワだよ」
ネタバレになるかも知れないが
フィールドオブドリームズで流れる
不思議な声の正体は亡くなった後の
主人公の声だと私は思っている
それは多分、亡くなって天国に逝った後に
昔の自分にどうしても伝えるべきだと主人公が思ったのだと思う
だから「最後までやり通せ」と言いたかったんじゃないのか…
昔の自分に送るメッセージとしては
充分過ぎるものだったんじゃないかな？
ちなみにフィールドオブドリームズの中では
時間と空間がつながっている設定なのかもしれない
だからハナシとして矛盾しない…
こういう与太ハナシができるのも
野球だからだろう…
それだけ野球が日本に根付いているという事…
その事に私は嫉妬しているのだ…
全ての事に意味がある…それを忘れるな！

This is a bit off topic, but in the Dokaben manga, there's a story about how Benkei High School walked to Koshien, and that story stuck in my mind as a child, and I was impressed by the act of walking.
Forgetful Battery doesn't really create stories with the goal of winning games, but it focuses on the inner thoughts of each player. It's unusual that he creates such works.
"Why do I play baseball?"
I think it's a story where the characters ask themselves such questions and move forward.
There is no winning or losing.
Just because they lose a game doesn't mean they've lost as a person.
If I imagine the characters in Wasurena Battery 10 years from now, I don't think they'll be so depressed.
That's because they devoted themselves to baseball,
failed, worried, and overcame difficulties.
If they have that experience, I think they can continue to work hard for a long life...
Anime If I had to pick one movie I like, I would choose "Field of Dreams." "Is this heaven?" "No, it's Iowa." This might be a spoiler, but I think the mysterious voice that plays in Field of Dreams is the voice of the protagonist after he dies. I think he probably felt that he had to tell his past self after he died and went to heaven. That's why he wanted to say "See it through to the end." I think that was more than enough of a message to his past self. By the way, in Field of Dreams, time and space may be connected. So there's no contradiction in the story... I guess it's because of baseball that we can talk nonsense like this... That just shows how deeply rooted baseball is in Japan... I'm jealous of that...
