I first met “Yukichi” the snow leopard, 2 years ago. あたしが「ユキチ」に初めて会ったのは、２年前です。
He was born at “Tama zoological park”. 彼は、「多摩動物公園」で生まれたです。
He was still a baby, and always his beautiful mom was near him. 彼は、まだ赤ちゃんで、いつも、彼の美しいママが傍に居たです。
His mom’s name is “Yuki”. ママのお名前は「ユキ」です。
She came from “Higashiyama zoo” in Nagoya. 彼女は、名古屋の「東山動物園」から来たです。
She was born in Pohland, and then she came to Japan. 彼女は、ポーランドで生まれて、日本に来たです。
She was a member of "Higashiyama zoo", but she came to “Tama zoological park” by “Breeding Loan” which made an agreement between “Higashiyama” and “Tama”. 彼女は、「東山動物園」の子だったですけど、「多摩」と「東山」の「ブリーディングローン」の契約で、「多摩動物公園」に来たです。
"Breeding loan" is the agreements which the zoos rent the animals each other to aimed at the breeding of the animals. 「ブリーディングローン」とは、繁殖のために、動物園がお互いに、動物さん達を貸し借りする契約のことです。
And in almost cases, it promises between the zoos that when first baby was born, the baby is moved to lender zoo. でもって、ほとんどの場合、最初に生まれた赤ちゃんは、貸し手側の動物園に、移動になるです。
The benefit of this agreement is that it needs little money, because each zoo doesn't release the ownership of animals. この契約の利点は、動物さん達の所有権を手放さないから、ほとんどお金がかかんないということです。
Yukichi had beautiful shining eyes, and was so active, and was so cute. ユキチは、きれいな輝く瞳を持っていて、活発で、すっごく可愛かったです。
Yuki was really fabulous and a good mom. ユキは、ステキな、良いお母さんだったです。
I got crazy about Yukichi and Yuki. あたしは、ユキチと、ユキに、夢中になったです。
But I had an accident at the end of that year. ところが、その年の終わりに、事件が起きたです。
I broke my left shoulder bone. あたしは、左肩を骨折したです。
I couldn’t go to see them for about a year due to injury. ケガの為に、１年近く、彼らに会いに行けなかったです。
I needed to recover over a long period. よくなるまでに、たくさんの時間がかかったです。
Day after day, I wasted a time on the bed until healing up. 来る日も、来る日も、回復するまで、ベッドの上で、時間を費やしたです。
At last, after a long period, I could go to see them at the “Tama zoological park”. 長い時間の果てに、ついに、あたしは、彼らに会いに「多摩動物公園」に行くことができたです。
But they were not there, anymore. でも、既に、彼らは居なかったです。
I heard that Yukichi moved to “Higasiyama zoo”, and after that one month later, his mom Yuki was passed away of cancer. ユキチは「東山動物園」に移動になり、その１か月後に、ユキは、儚くなってたです。
I knew I lost two of my precious friends. あたしは、二人の大切な友達を失ったことを知ったです。
I was filled with deep sorrow. あたしは、悲嘆に暮れたです。
Anyway, I wanted to see Yukichi. 兎に角、ユキチに会いたかった。
But Nagoya is a very faraway place like foreign countries for me. でも、名古屋は、あたしにとって、外国みたく遠いところです。
But I couldn’t stop thinking about him. だけど、あたしは、彼への思いを止められなかったです。
So, I went to the “Higashiyama zoo”, from September 18th to 19th. で、９月１８日～１９日に、「東山動物園」に行ってきたです。
He has been there. 彼は、そこにいたです。
And I was able to see him. そして、あたしは、彼に会うことができたです。
But… だけど…。
I heard Yukichi is sick a little from a zookeeper. あたしは、飼育員さんから、ユキチが病気だって聞いたです。
The origin of his sickness is not clear. 病気の原因はわかんないです。
When Yukichi goes to his display area, he become nervous and freezes. ユキチは放飼場に出ると、神経質になって、動けなくなっちゃうです。
And he can't go back to his room, beyond the closing time of the zoo. それで、閉演時間が過ぎても、自分のお部屋に戻れなくなっちゃうです。
So, the zookeeper has stayed him indoors, since several days ago, to calm him. だから、飼育員さんは、彼を落ち着かせるために、数日前から、彼をお外に出してなかったです。
I got so sad to hear that. それを聞いて、あたしは、とても哀しくなったです。
But the zookeeper said that he is better, day by day. でも、飼育員さんは、日に日に良くなってるょって言ってたです。
So, I'm going to go to see him again, to Nagoya, someday. だから、また、いつか、彼に会いに名古屋にいくです。
I believe Yukichi will show me his active figure, when I next time meet. あたしは、次に会うときには、ユキチが元気な姿を見せてくれるって、信じてるです。

On September 17th, "Tama zoological park" held the “Keeper's talk” about the longevity animals. ９月１７日に、「多摩動物公園」で、長寿動物の「キーパーズ・トーク」がやられたです。
He is a familiar cool guy named "Shyngiz" who is very popular with all females, but actually he is 21 years old. 彼は、女の子にモテモテの、おなじみのイケメン「シンギズ」君ですけど、実は２１才です。
A Snow leopard's life span is about 15 years. ユキヒョウの寿命は、およそ15才です。
He is an old man, but he is more active than ever. 老いて尚壮ん(≧▽≦)
Shyngiz couldn't move due to getting his claw hooked in the fence when he was given a chicken's head (his favorite snack) from a zookeeper. 飼育員さんに、鶏頭(お気に入りのおやつ)を飼育員さんからもらった時に、シンギズ君の爪が、フェンスにひっかかって動けなくなっちゃったです。
He was upset and was roaring. 彼は、気が動転して唸り声を上げてたです。
Shyngiz's claw fell off due to his struggles. もがいたので、シンギズ君の爪が、とれちゃったです。
It's OK, because it often happens with feline. 猫科の子達には、よくある事なので大丈夫です。
I wanted shyngiz’s claw, but unfortunately, assignment and transfer of Snow leopards, including their claws, are banned under the Washington convention. あたしは、シンギズ君の爪が欲しかったですけど、残念ながら、爪を含めてユキヒョウの譲渡や販売は、ワシントン条約で禁止されてるです。
The zookeeper picked up the claw and took it away, carefully. 飼育員さんは、爪を拾い上げて、大切に持ち帰ったです。
