“Manul” means “Small wild cat” in Mongolian.
Their English name is “Pallas’s Cat”.
Most of the people who have seen them say, "What a strange cat!!". Because their shape is a little different than other felines.
The ear position of most felines is on the head.
But the ear position of Pallas's cat is lower than the position of the other felines.
I think, they look like a “Cheshire Cat” who is featured as one of the cast in the “Alice in Wonderland”.

↑Bayar
Why is the low position of the Pallas's cat's ear?
They live in rocky mountains.
When they peek from behind the cave, if their ear position is high then they will be found out easily.
They evolved to protect themselves and to catch prey.
By the way, I went to “Ueno zoo”, last Thursday.
Ueno zoo has 5 Pallas’s cats.
2 of them are parents, and others are their children who were born last year.

↑Lalaa
Before, Daddy and Mommy didn’t have names.
But last month, they were given names.
Daddy’s name is “Bayar”, and Mommy’s name is “Lalaa”.
When their names are put together, they become “Bayarlalaa”.
“Bayarlalaa” means “Thanks” in Mongolian.
I think those are beautiful names…(^-^)uttori.
