Her name is Ena.
この子のお名前は「エナ」です。

Ena is a Snow Leopard in Tama Zoological Park.
エナは、多摩動物公園のユキヒョウさんです。

Ena was watching a leaf hanging on a fence.
エナは、柵にぶら下がってる葉っぱを見てたです。

Ena touched the leaf, so it fluttered down.
エナが触ったら、はっぱがひらひら落ちたです。

I wonder if Ena thought it looks yummy.
エナは、美味しそうって思ったのかなぁ。。。



I heard that "ENA" means "Yummy" in Indonesian.
インドネシア語で、「エナ」は「美味しそう」って意味なのだそうです。

It is a good name for gluttonous Ena, isn't it?
食いしん坊のエナに、ぴったりのお名前ですね。

哀しいしらせ The sad news.

The baby giraffe who was born in Tama Zoological Park on May 13, 2013 passed away after the closing time of the zoo on May 15, 2013.
5月13日に多摩動物公園で生まれた赤ちゃんキリンが、15日の閉園後に儚くなりました。

I knew the sad news, late noon of today(already yesterday).
今日の夕方(もう昨日だけど)、訃報を知りました。

In fact, my mind is full of disbelief.
正直な話、信じらんない気持ちでいっぱいです。

I believed I will be able to keep watching her growth.
彼女の成長を、ずっと、見守っていけると信じてたです。

I wanted to see the scene which she is running around the large exhibit area joyfully with her mom or the giraffe calves.
彼女が、大放飼場で、お母さんや、他の子達と、楽しそうに走るのを見たかった。

I wanted to see that someday she would become an adult and fall in love with fabulous male giraffe and give birth to a cute baby.
いつか、彼女が大人になって、すてきな殿方と恋をして、可愛い赤ちゃんを授かるのを見たかった。

She was loved from not only her mom but also all of the family.
彼女は、ママだけじゃなく、仲間のみんなからも愛されてたです。

She was able to live only for 3 days, but I never forget her forever.
たった3日間しか生きられなかったけど、あたしは、この子を忘れない。

生まれたてのキリンの赤ちゃん Newborn Baby Giraffe #1.

A baby giraffe was born in Tama Zoological Park on May 13, 2013.
5月13日に、多摩動物公園で、赤ちゃんキリンが生まれたです。

お母さんは、アオイさんで、お父さんは、カンスケくんです。

Before opening the zoo, the zookeepers who are in charge of the giraffes put the giraffes into the large-exhibit area.
開園前、キリンの担当の飼育員さんが大放飼場にキリンさんたちを出したです。

At that time, suddenly Aoi the female giraffe gave birth to a baby.
そのとき、突然、アオイさんが赤ちゃんを産んだです。

Usually, the pregnant giraffe is put in a maternity room until a baby was born.
ふつうは、妊娠してるキリンさんは、赤ちゃんが生まれるまで、産室に入れられてるです。

The zookeepers knew Aoi had a baby in her belly, but they were unable to predict when the baby was born.
飼育員さんたちは、アオイさんのお腹に赤ちゃんがいることは知ってたですけど、いつ生まれるのかは予測できなかったです。

I guess if the zookeepers predict the X-day, they would never put her into the exhibit area.
もしわかってたら、放飼場に出さなかったと思うです。



The baby who was born in the exhibit area was trying to stand up, desperately.
放飼場で生まれた赤ちゃんは、一生懸命、立ち上がろうとしてたです。

The baby giraffe can't get its milk from the mom if the baby can't stand up.
赤ちゃんは、立ち上がることができなければ、ママからミルクを貰えないです。

In the wild, the baby is eaten by the predator, if the baby couldn't stand up soon.
野生下では、すぐに立ち上がることができなかったら、捕食者に食べられちゃうです。

The baby tried to stand up and failed, again and again.
赤ちゃんは、何度も立ち上がろうとして、何度も失敗したです。


The baby couldn't stand up, and gradually weakened.
赤ちゃんは、立ち上がることができなくて、徐々に衰弱していったです。
