Welcome 2022.    For my first post of the new year, I just found some random photos to share.

This sand sculpture is at Kugenuma beach, Kanagawa.

2021 had Surfing entered as an official Olympic sport for the first time.  Lot of young boys want to be like their surfing idol Kanoa Igarashi    (  Most girls are taking up skateboarding, which also debutted at Tokyo Olympics )

I am always surprised at the level of Japanese surfers in their local small beach break waves.

This year there's more fins, more choices of templates and uses of carbon fiber strips to make the boards go faster ( and higher )

But with the surge of surfing / beach life fashion, there's more beginners in the water.    This guy seems BORED.  He doesn't know the first rule of surfing ............ "Never turn your back on the ocean".

If not you're going to get BOARD.

Matrix Resurrection came out in 2021.   This guy probably just came from the movie theater.

Surfer are always on the search for waves.  We have 5g internet / wifi giving us live views of the ocean waves, wave forecasts for the next week, etc.   But sometimes surfers got to be creative on those small days.

So here's a look back at 2021 and a hope for a better 2022.

Life is Short,  Go SURF !
