英語を話す人は世界に沢山いるわけだけど、世代、出身などでアクセントや使う言葉も変わってきますよね。地方では方言があり、英国ではGeordieと言えば、Newcastle, Brummie はBirmingham、 Doricはスコットランド北東部などです。ちなみにうちの住んでいるところはサフォークアクセントやエセックスアクセント、そしてロンドンはロンドンアクセントと色々あり、耳が鍛えられます。また使う言葉はアメリカ、カナダ、オーストラリアの英語圏などでも違いがあります。
例えば、Fizzy drink は英国では炭酸。 Soda やPopがアメリカ英語でしょうか
Flip-flopsと言えば英国ではゴム草履、thongsはアメリカ英語？
Rucksack（英国）に対し、backpack, knapsack (米語）
Pavement （英国）に対し、sidewalk（米語）、footpath (豪語）
