Helloooooooo. So,,, I wanted to rant but didn't know who to, so I'll rant here
I went to church yesterday.
It was a celebration service for the series we were doing, which I didn't think we needed to celebrate.
Anyways!
So round tables were set up and breakfast was served.
It was like an awkward wedding reception you don't know anybody but the couple.
I sat with two couples, one in their 50's and one in their 40's.
While we were waiting for our turn to go get food, we answered questions on a sheet at the table.
One of the question was: "Who here was born outside of Canada?"
So I told them I was.
One guy (in their 50's) "Oh no, but not from the North East, right?"
Me: "Yes"
The guy:"Oh no, do you still have family there?"
Me: "Yes"
The guy: "How are they?"
Me: "um, they are okay. They are alive. Our house is okay. They seem to be living normal lives... except for the radiation problem. My family lives 80km away from the nuclear power plant. My dad lives 40km away from it."
The guy: "Oh, it's a minor detail. I heard people are moving back into that area. It's all good, then. Your family is okay. Your house is okay."
...EXCUSE ME!?!?
I couldn't believe how ignorant and insensitive he was!!!!
Oh and later my friend(?) who works at the school I go to made a comment about "ASIANS" and how they make her work frustrating. Thanks. Thanks.
And she was like "oh no no, it's no like they are Japanese."
THANK YOU. BECAUSE I'M THE ONLY JAPANESE STUDENT AT THE SCHOOL AND I DON'T BOTHER YOU. IF YOU KNOW THEY ARE NOT JAPANESE AND MAINLY CHINESE, JUST SAY CHINESE. ASIA IS BIG, SO THAT YOU KNOW. THANK YOU VERY MUCH.
