必要性の感じない外国語学習はやる気が起きない
 
English teenagers are the worst in Europe at learning a second language.

Language education in the UK is very bad. It's too little, too late.
In the Netherlands, Germany etc, kids are learning English in their first years of primary school, and it continues until they're 18. that's around 12 years of it, and learning it well.
Contrast Britain, where kids start a language at age 12 (right when they're beginning the difficult teenage years) and for five years are just made to copy out set phrases. They don't know the grammar, which is hardly surprising because they don't even teach English grammar.
Add to that the fact that foreign language resources/media in Britain are extremely hard to come by - the only foreign language books in libraries are a few highbrow titles, and you definitely can't get any foreign channels on tv easily.
The rest of the world can't turn a corner without coming across American series, media, films. Anglophone culture is prevalent everywhere, largely because of the USA.The Germans, Dutch etc combine a wealth of resources with a sustained and good quality language education. The French and Spanish are a little behind in educational terms, but they still have the resources.
 All are educated in their own grammar before starting in another language.
We have no real language education, no foreign cultural influence or resources.
 And of course, when Brits go abroad they are spoken to in English.
We're set up to fail!!　　⑪
 
何らかの動機、目的、必要性がないとやる気は起きませんよね。いや、それだけではまだ不十分。心の底からどこか楽しいと感じるものがないと。

やっぱり最強のモチベーションはおねーちゃんか。
