Major 8.2 Earthquake Hits Chile, TSUNAMI Warning for Pacific Coast
 
Tsunami threat for Alaska, Hawaii, Oregon, California
(CTV) A 1.9-metre tsunami was recorded at a northern Chilean port Tuesday, after a massive 8.0-magnitude earthquake struck off the country's northern coast Tuesday.
The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center recorded the tsunami activity near Chilean city of Pisagua after the large earthquake was recorded northwest of Iquique.
A tsunami warning was issued for Chile, Peru and Ecuador shortly after the quake struck at 8:46 p.m.
The U.S. Geological Survey said the quake hit at approximately 100 kilometres away from Chile's coast.
It hit in an area that has been struck by several quakes over the past two weeks.
All of Latin America's pacific coast countries are currently under a tsunami warning. Authorities have ordered an evacuation of coastal regions.
There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage.
The earthquake shook buildings in parts of Bolivia and Peru, The Associated Press reported.
