BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) -- Two U.S. military helicopters apparently collided and crashed in a rural area on the northern outskirts of Baghdad Sunday morning, killing two U.S. soldiers and injuring five others, according to the U.S. military.

The initial reports suggest a collision and not enemy fire caused the two helicopters to crash near the town of Taji, the military said.

Since the 2003 invasion of Iraq, 3,293 U.S. military personnel have died in the war. Seven American civilian contractors of the military also have died.

Since January 20, 10 U.S. helicopters -- eight of them military, two belonging to security contractors -- have been shot down or forced to make hard landings.

Thirty people have died in those incidents. On April 5, a U.S. Army helicopter went down south of Baghdad, injuring four of the nine passengers and crew on board, the U.S. military said.

Also Sunday morning, two car bombs exploded within minutes of each other in a shopping and dining area of southwest Baghdad, killing at least 15 people and wounding another 50 people, according to Baghdad police.

The first bomb hit a popular restaurant at about 10 a.m., while 10 minutes later and 100 yards away a second bomb exploded in an outdoor market in southwest Baghdad's al-Shurta al-Rabeia district, police said.

Baghdad police also reported finding 14 bullet-riddled bodies in various places around the Iraqi capital on Saturday.

Also Saturday, a car bomb blast in a crowded shopping area of central Karbala, a holy Shiite city about 70 miles southwest of Baghdad, killed at least 43 people and wounded 55, according to an official at Hussein Hospital in Karbala.

The explosion went off near a bus station and just 200 yards from the Imam Hussein shrine.

A short time later, a car bomb exploded on the Jadriya bridge, which spans the Tigris River in southern Baghdad, killing at least 10 people and wounding 15 others, Iraqi police said.

The Jadriya bridge attack came two days after a suicide car bomb detonated on the Sarafiya bridge, which crosses the Tigris in northern Baghdad, also killing 10 people. Two large sections of the bridge collapsed into the river.

LONDON, England (AP) -- Rescuers said Friday they had all but given up hope of finding five crewmen alive after their ship capsized off northern Scotland.

Three other sailors were confirmed dead in the accident. Seven crew members from the Norwegian oil rig support vessel Bourbon Dolphin were rescued and were being treated at a hospital in the Shetland Islands.

A coast guard helicopter and navy divers with heat-seeking cameras scoured the frigid North Sea for signs of the missing crewmen, who included a 15-year-old boy and his father. They found no signs of survivors.

"The status has now changed from a search-and-rescue operation to a salvage-and-recovery operation," said Lt. Lee Madigan of the Clyde naval base in Scotland. A coast guard spokesman said the chances of finding the crew members alive were "extremely slim."

The Bourbon Dolphin capsized Thursday in calm seas west of the islands, off Scotland's northern tip, while performing a routine anchor-handling operation on a rig.

British officials said all the crew members were Norwegian, although media in Denmark reported that one was a Dane.

A 15-year-old boy, who was working aboard the vessel with his father, was among the missing.

British coast guards said the five missing crew members may have been trapped in the hull of the upturned vessel, which was operating at the Transocean Rather rig when it capsized.

Michael Coull, duty watch manager at Aberdeen Coastguard, said there might be an air pocket under the overturned vessel, "and if the remainder of the crew were in a watertight compartment, then there's a possibility that they could still be alive."

"However, the chances are extremely slim and it's highly unlikely that that's the case," he said.

The ship capsized at about 5 p.m. Thursday and remained on the surface of the calm ocean in clear weather about 80 miles west of the Shetland islands, coast guard spokesman Mark Clark said.

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- Stocks climbed in the first moments of trade Friday after a pair of better-than-expected economic reports and good earnings news from Dow component General Electric.

The Dow Jones industrial average, Nasdaq and S&P 500 all edged higher in early trade.

In economic news, March core PPI, which strips out volatile food and energy prices, showed no increase in prices. That's far better than the 0.4 percent rise in February and better than the economists' forecast of a 0.2 percent increase in those prices. Including food and energy the Producer Price Index rose 1.0.

The U.S. trade deficit narrowed unexpectedly in February to $58.4 billion, as crude oil imports fell sharply to the smallest in four years and average imported oil prices were the lowest since December 2005, a government report on Friday showed.

In corporate news, General Electric (Charts ) rode out problems in its mortgage business due to the battered subprime lending sector to post earnings growth in line with forecasts.
