It had snowed softly and thickly all through the hours of darkness and the beautiful whiteness, glittering in the frosty sunshine, looked like a mantle of charity cast over all the mistakes and humiliations of the past.

"Every morn is a fresh beginning,
Every morn is the world made new,"

sang Anne, as she dressed.

charity:思いやり,心配り
humiliation:屈辱,不面目
morn:朝

夜の間中そっと深く積もった美しい雪が凍りつくような朝の日の光を浴びて輝き、これまでのすべての間違いや辱めを思いやりを込めて覆うマントのように見えた。

　「どの朝も新しい始まり、
　どの朝も新たに作られた世界」

と服を着ながらアンは歌った。
