Anne sent them to their seats with a sharper tone than she had ever used before. Anthony Pye strutted to his with his usual impertinent swagger and she saw him whisper something to his seat-mate and then glance at her with a grin.

アンは以前にはないような厳しい口調で生徒たちを席につかせた。いつものようにアンソニー・パイは生意気な態度でもったいをつけながら席につくと、隣の席の男の子に何か囁くとアンの方を見てにやっと笑った。
