"I'm sure I'd get on better with geometry if only
he wouldn't change the letters," complained Anne.
"I learn the proposition off by heart and then
he draws it on the blackboard and puts different
letters from what are in the book and I get all
mixed up. I don't think a teacher should take
such a mean advantage, do you?

「先生が文字を変えなければ幾何もうまくいくと思う
んだけどな」とアンは不満を口にする。「定理をまる
覚えするでしょ。先生がそれを黒板に書くのだけど、
教科書にあるのとは違う文字で書くの。そうなると混
乱しちゃうわけ。先生ってそんな意地悪をしちゃいけ
ないでしょう。
