firmly. "And Mr. Phillips spelled my name without
an e, too. The iron has entered into my soul, Diana."

Diana hadn't the least idea what Anne meant but she
understood it was something terrible.

firmly:きっぱりと
terrible:恐ろしい

「絶対にギルバート・ライスを許さない」きっぱりとアン
は宣言した。「それに、フィリップ先生も私の名前にeを
つけるのを忘れたわね。固いしこりが私の心に住み着いて
しまったのよ、ダイアナ」

ダイアナにはアンの言う事がさっぱり分からなかったが、
何かひどいことが起きたということは分かった。
