We keep it in the parlor and we have the fairy glass
there, too. The fairy glass is as lovely as a dream.
Diana found it out in the woods behind their chicken
house. It's all full of rainbows--just little young
rainbows that haven't grown big yet--and Diana's mother
told her it was broken off a hanging lamp they once
had. But it's nice to imagine the fairies lost it
one night when they had a ball, so we call it the fairy
glass.

それは客間に置いています。妖精のグラスも客間ね。妖精の
グラスの美しさはもう夢を見ているよう。ダイアナが鶏小屋
の後ろの森で見つけたのよ。グラスの中に虹が詰め込まれて
いるみたい－－まだ大きくなっていない子供の虹ね－－ダイ
アナのお母さんによると、以前使っていた吊ランプが壊れた
ものだって。それよりは、舞踏会の夜、妖精が失くしたもの
だって考えるほうが素敵なので、妖精のグラスって呼んでい
るのよ。
