Anne WAS trembling. Her face was pale and tense.

"Oh, Marilla, you'd be excited, too, if you were going
to meet a little girl you hoped to be your bosom friend
and whose mother mightn't like you," she said as she
hastened to get her hat.

tremble:震える
pale:血の気がない
tense:緊張した
bosom friend:親友

アンは本当に震えていた。顔は青ざめて緊張の色が見える。

「マリラだって震えるわよ。親友になってもらいたい女の子
に会うのに、そのお母さんに嫌われるかもしれないのなら」
そう言いながらアンは急いで帽子を取りに行った。
